We’re totally behind Gov. Parsons here in Missouri who is 100% behind Gov Abbot in Texas. Isn’t this the reason why we have people assigned to our National Guard? The Guard is not a play toy for the President to use at his pleasure. Its intended purpose is to support the State it’s assigned to under the command of the State Adjutant General and the State Governor.

No it isn't, commander in chief can send them all to Alaska or Hawaii, if he wants. Governors only have autonomy to deploy them within their own state. He could send them to invade somewhere if we were at war.

The Sheriffs in the border county need to deputize the guardsmen. Sheriffs are immune from federalization. That’s why Idaho sent staties instead of the guard. Other states need to do the same.

@@Joe-sn6fh OK, Joe, I wasn’t aware of a State Governor’s limitation to only activate their units within their own state. I only had to deal with the Guard to insure they didn’t violate the “Passe Commitus” act. I knew they couldn’t use state funds to perform duties that legally were only allowed to be given to the police. But, that’s a legal issue. What options does the President have if 25 of our 50 Governors decide to by-pass the law and deploy their units using only State funding. He obviously can’t federalize that many Guard units without funding from Congress and the justification for the money he’s going to need. I pray this doesn’t turn into a Constitutional crisis because there are a lot of people who are demanding the government do something to end this massive illegal immigration. And the Governors are feeling the pressure. Many of these Governors come up for re-election in November. Thank you for explaining the State’s limitations regarding deployment of units outside of their respective states.

SOLUTION: All border states give the Feds 100 yard swath along the entire border. Then the Feds are responsible for protecting the entire country''s border, then each state can be fully responsible for protecting their own border. Do it and let's get past this whole problem. But then again, that's probably far too simple for the government.
