This film was made by the government, by the US War Department, distributed throughout America in 1947, after World War II. There was an active left wing and right wing movement in the United States and the government wanted to warn American citizens about the both of them. It's a powerful film and in surprising ways, reflects upon the "sides" debating the future of America today. That is why I present it on my channel. now
The film was called "Don't Be a Sucker”. It is a notable piece of historical media, crafted to educate the American public on the perils of fascism and its ideology, and to promote unity and understanding among diverse political, racial, social groups within the USA.
The film opens with a scene of a man, who appears disillusioned by post-World War II adjustments, listening to a speech promoting hatred and division. The narrative then transitions to another character, a naturalized Hungarian-American professor, who recounts his experiences in Hungary under the rise of fascism and draws parallels to the rhetoric being spread in the United States. The professor shares his story with the initially persuaded man, highlighting how such divisive ideologies can lead to the downfall of democratic societies.
"Don't Be a Sucker" employs a combination of dramatized sequences and historical footage to convey its message, effectively warning against the dangers of bigotry, intolerance, and the spread of fascist beliefs. It underscores the importance of unity, respect for all Americans regardless of race or religion, and the need to be vigilant against those who would exploit divisions for their gain.
The film was part of a broader effort by the U.S. government during and after World War II to use media as a tool for public education and to fortify democratic values at a time when the world had witnessed the devastating consequences of fascism and extreme nationalism.
During the Reagan administration, laws were passed to prevent the government from making media in most areas (except for recruiting films in the military), anything that was seen to be political or presenting a political point of view.

Yes, we are there. But we've always been there. There is a common tendency to treat the present as if it is something new or different, when it is really just a continuous progression. The ruling class needs to control the narrative in order to maintain their power and privilege. The particulars may change (e.g., WW1, WW2, the Communist/Socialist "threat", all the wars against other countries, etc.), but the behavior is the same - censorship, vacuous bleating about "democracy" while destroying it, foreign threats, "national interest", etc. The government is always a pack of wolves.

9:37 America never acknowledges its involvement in Eugenics. We literally wrote the book. As for Freemasonry, the lineage of Seth could arguably be considered superior in the light of building Solomon's temple compared to the lineage of Cain. In an alternate version of the tale Cain is superior. Essentially it's a claim to lineage of the brick builders of Sumer and the stone builders of Egypt. Maybe that's just how I interpret the story. It's hard to peel back the layers of propaganda and hijacked symbology. Just look at a dollar bill - never mind a swastika.

So many people have proclaimed America to be the roots of evil in the world, yet evil has so often failed to take root here, I hope, for all our sakes, that it will remain to be so. @@martell203 It is funny how everybody would agree that it should not be allowed to misbehave at the town's square. But as soon as it is online, every kind of abuse is somehow a relevant statement which has to be heard and seen by everybody. It is not censorship, it is basic decency. And when you lack it, you might perceive that as censorship - but nonetheless the people on the town square don't want to see your bare ass mooning them.
@martell203
@martell203 Ай бұрын
@@Schmidtelpunkt Well, you’re moving the goalposts. I was discussing censorship, not indecent exposure, which is a crime and is different. You can block and mute yourself.
@Schmidtelpunkt
@Schmidtelpunkt Ай бұрын
@@martell203 Nope. Not moving the goal posts. That is exactly the point I am making. And claiming that this would be the same as the user limiting their own experience by blocking kind of contradicts your own town square narrative, as this would mean that the people who dislike misbehavior at the town square are supposed to stay away from it, leaving the public space to those who are rude and overstep. It might not be the governments job to censor. It is however the governments job to protect. This is what keeps society from succumbing to the right of the stronger.
@DustyNonya
@DustyNonya Ай бұрын
@@SchmidtelpunktHonestly you are. To leave it as vague as "indecency" or "misbehaving" is a broad and counterintuitive to inclusive views. Mooning is public exposure as already stated, and even that level of "misbehavior" shouldn't be enough to keep any voting base out of a town square. Physical abuse isn't permitted but that's not possible over the internet; only threats of such. So the will of "stronger" heavily weighs on the sides of those with the money and media attention to back up their narrative. Ultimately; enough elitists could claim that anyone with improper sentence syntax or grammar errors in their spoken word are "indecent", as decency is an ever changing construct largely dictated by generational wealth and societal change.

Eh, Bezmenov is interesting but I feel like too many people take what he says for granted, and without any critique. I don't want to entirely discern what he talked about, but it oftentimes feels he had spun his explanation so as to make it seem like past events that already unfolded by his time, plus some short-term predictions were all the works of the KGB, dressed up in cold and rational language to give it more veracity. Were they really? He never really explained the mechanisms of how the KGB supposedly influenced the thinking of Americans. This is the classique trapping of conspirational thinking: Trying to find relatively simple but powerful explanations behind complex events, but disregarding what happened between A and Z. At the same time, many people who think Bezmenov was right think the notion that contemporary social media operations by the FSB are just a fairy tale or irrevelant. There is truth to both, but we keep falling for convincing explanations so our world-view is sound. It seems to me, the very people who so much espouse the importance of truth and fact-seeking, love to stick to whatever agrees with their biases.

‘Don’t be a sucker’ Good classic anti-demagoguery anti-radical idealism film. However the division in the nation now;even though peoples vote,money, and will can be captured and guided by these same tactics; are not divisions based on ideals and political views alone. Yes those two things are how peoples feelings and views are manifested into something you can put on a picket or in a pamphlet. The divisions we are dealing with-at least the divisions that are most likely to cause a flash point because there is no middle ground-are divisions of much deeper meaning. They aren’t divisions of foreign policy, tax laws, or who should be in control of public utilities but rather divisions of identity and bodily autonomy, divisions on questions of life itself. Division not over if the human soul is happier and better serving the needs of the individual or of the group but division on whether the human body has a soul or not. The last civil war was fought over what was, essentially, the very same fundamental questions that we are dealing with now as it pertains to immigration, abortion, and gender and those questions are: based on the virtue of your birth what rights do you have, or not have; what rights do others have over you when it comes to your pursuit of life, liberty, and property & happiness; and to what extent does the law give others to exercise their rights over yours.

It lays out so clearly the ways fascism utilises to form its base, and how important it is to keep our eyes open and our minds clear. Every person plays a part in how their nation is governed. Thank you David, for reminding us of how easily a country can be brought down by the manipulation of its people’s emotions, and how hard rights and freedoms are to regain once they have been taken away, or worse…given away by the gullible and credulous, who believe the words that divide a society.🖤🇨🇦

You're being fooled and if you just go back and look at history and then look at how it turned out contrary to the philosophies such as this that were stated, you will understand. It's no different than one of my other friends who was all concerned because one of his daughters friends from school was interested in other girls and he just felt it was so necessary to separate them because he was scared his daughter might be influenced and I said okay did you know anybody that was gay when you were in school and he said yeah and then I said when you were around them did it somehow make you just all the sudden not be interested in women anymore? This was beautifully said! This should be played over & over in schools, churches, EVERYWHERE! Our nation is in a serious crisis! We're already heading down this dark slippery slope where we no longer love our neighbors but don't trust or even care about them! I'm a Marine. Im completely saddened by what is going on in this great nation. Our highly intelligent forefathers full of extreme wisdom gave us that wonderful constitution. Too many are ignorant, lazy or just don't give a damn about our freedoms & what great brave men did and were willing to do to ensure a free sovereign nation! Its very upsetting that so many turn a blind eye while politicians law us out of ALL our freedoms! They wipe their asses with this work of art while the masses blindly make TT or YT vids & selfishly r concerned about themselves not understanding we need each other to stand up and fight the atrocities they are perpetrating against us! They keep us blind & dumb. Make us forget about kindness & love for each other. They give us a false lull of happiness but are any of us happy? Sure a video, a movie, a new car or toy is superficial joy but why does it take a national tragedy to bring humanity back if not for a short period? I cried the whole time writing this. I know it will have little to no meaning. The terrible thing is it should have meaning. I love my country! I hate my government but more than anything, I'm extremely saddened that my neighbors don't care to know me and people have so much hate and fear in their hearts. The financial instability and the American dream growing further away from most and no end in sight. WE HAD A GREAT THING! WE'RE LOSING IT! WHY AREN'T MORE PEOPLE CONCERNED? 😖😫😡🤬

I think it's good to learn about the rhetoric used in the past to split people up and make comparisons to situations today, though I also worry that comparing the past with the present too much could lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy. So maybe what we (whoever wishes peace and prosperity for all) should do is discuss alternative directions to go. How do we learn from the past so that we make sure we don't repeat it? I think we need to disprove the divisive speech of fascists by showing that integration and collaboration and compassion for all works far better than anything they could propose. Somehow we need to find a balance between individual prosperity and communal strength, so that there is no room nor interest in any kind of extremes.
