I worked in corrections for 7 years and I’ve seen 100% of this. I’ve seen men beaten for simply leaving a t shirt hanging too long. The irony is that 90% of these inmates live with rules and respect on the inside but live like shit on the outside. It makes you wonder how much better and different their lives would be if they applied that same mindset outside of the prison that they do inside.

Well isn’t a problem that they do take prison mentality outside and can’t acclimate? They mistake fear for respect and end up back inside

There is no other choice there, its like military they check each other and themselves. Also, no one will stab you if you have dirty socks in your locker on the outside, or maybe you will end up stabbing someone for some dirty socks. In prison the answer to every problem is violence and/or intimidation, it can be difficult to change that mentality after getting out.

Great advices, now if you going into the prison for the first time you should really pay attention to this guy. Ive done time little north of 3 years out of possible 6. However i serve here in Finland And its whole Lotta different than your prison system, but certain things are universal in every prison. Remember 2 days in the conviction one when you get locked up And second when you get out

My old man did time, and he did not impart any valuable life changing lessons on us. He came out keeping up with his buddies and leaving his family by the way side. I"m glad to see that this is not a universal truth for all inmates. You did your time, learned a tonne and are now imparting those lessons and values with your community. That's awesome to see. You seem to be honest/humble and still spread a positive message. Very inspiring. Cheers

@ostensibly8095
@ostensibly8095 4 жыл бұрын
Andrew Tighe if a society doesn’t train its warriors to think critically they’ll won’t have intelligent tactics to employ as in multiple avenues of approach. If a society doesn’t train its scholars to think in a martial manner they will only formulate thoughts under the impression no one means any harm opening them up to be taken advantage of or conquered. So basically if a warrior can fight smart and a scholar can think tactically it’ll benefit the society which they’re dedicated to.

Wes's comments on self-talk stuck me so clearly, as I have been spending a lot of time alone over the last few months due to circumstances, and it really does cause things such as one's manner of self-talk to become so much clearer and more obvious. It has been extremely insightful, and a learning experience in that regard. I still struggle with it, but have come to see so clearly just how much I was preventing myself from acheiving the things I seek in life. I had been being my own worst enemy in a big way before I began to become more aware of it, which is only a recent realisation.

My mantra is "I'm just here for the ride". 2018/2019 I survived cancer/chemo then went full on neurotic post chemo. I was freaked out just to be alive. I was plagued by thoughts that made me panic. Eventually I grew callous and became tougher and started laughing about it all. I know it sounds cynical but when you suffer more adversity then you could ever imagine your Being adjusts to the suffering. I'm mostly back to being myself but nowadays "I'm just here for the ride". Doesn't mean I'm lazy or don't do shit, quite the contrary. Just means when I die, I die. So I get after it everyday.

I lived in a monastery in Cuernavaca, Mexico. It was an incredible experience. The structure of the entire day was on prayer, community out reach, solitude to read. Not a single second was wasted. And their love for the community was incredible . Their outreach was centered on helping the community with mental health issues. They would get spit on, yelled at, and slapped in the face l, but they never ceased or changed their mood, because they truly respected the internal value of each person. You, have found this, even in what most people would see as the darkest of all dark hours. Thanks for doing what you!
