Did the pilot ever throttle down from Takeoff? I didn’t hear it at all. Maybe this is something with Denver airport and noise abatement?

There’s a speed limit of maybe 250 knots below 10,000 feet. But DIA is at about 5,300 feet altitude, so it’s a shorter distance to 10,000 feet. It’s really the decisions of the auto-throttle, but in this case since it’s that much closer to 10,000 feet, it can crank it without having to let off, as it remains within the speed limit.

Speed at 10,000 feet was 323 mph or 280 knots. Definitely not a 250 knot limit. I notice it on a lot of flight charts. It seems to be about a 300 knot limit below 10,000 feet judging by other charts.

ecoRfan great explanation. That makes sense that the aircraft starting out at a higher altitude doesn’t need the same power requirements as an aircraft at sea level.

@@ecoRfan It's actually 250 knots. Look it up.

@@TrentEngineFan I thought I had seen that written somewhere that it’s 250. Nonetheless it seems most flights go faster than that below 10k.

Classic Denver, lifted off at about 215 mph. The high altitude and thinner air mean higher liftoff speed. I got 43 seconds from maxing thrust to liftoff, which is also typical for a B738/739 taking off from Denver.

217 mph at rotation seems WAY faster than usual. Maybe it's because the air is less dense at Denver since it is so high.

What kind of GPS were you using to record and how did you align the data with the video?
@HDNYCAviation

GoPro has a built in GPS sensor from the Hero 5 onward. I used my GoPro hero 7 Black and used the GoPro QUIK app on my ipad to align the data. There are other cameras and 3rd party software (Dashware) that can do the same thing.
