Is the 66s good or what's the best Garmin GPS for walking in an urban/city environment? Like getting off a bus in a city in Europe or Russia (where you don't speak the language) and walk a couple of miles to find a street address? And how do I get the maps? Thanks!

Thank you for your question. There are a few functions of the inReach Mini that work without a subscription plan, but there are many features that require an active plan. quick question. I just bought the 66st, I know it has topo, my question is Will I benefit from purchasing additional maps? Example I live in the southwest, would I get even more map detail if I purchase the 24K southwest map or is that just wasting money? sorry if that is a stupid question

You ask a great question, and it's more common than you think. It really depends on how you want to use the device. It comes preloaded with TOPO 100k, which is a 1:100,000 scale map that is not routable. TOPO 24k would give you more detail, comparable to 1:24,000 scale USGS maps, and contains many routable trails and roads.

Thank you for your question. Yes, the GPSMAP 66 series handhelds can be set to MGRS for coordinates and the compass can be set to Mils.

So the only way to view the weather radar, you have to connect to a phone. That phone has to have service. So what's the point of this Garmin? I can just use my phone for the weather radar since this feature on the Garmin won't work with phone service.

He had said in the video that you would have to download it from your phone to the gps with a WiFi at home or wherever service is available. Once done u can use it hiking, camping wherever...

All of that, and I still don't know how to turn my 66i on and off. Let alone access and engage the multi-complex features, he seems mega-stoked about.

I really regret the purchase of the Garmin 66st I bought over a year ago. I am still struggling with even the most basic operations. The compass just is out of order, calibrating it doesn't help, the barometer/altitude meter indicates random values all the time, downloading birds eye images only worked twice, the overal operation is very anti intuitive, any basic operation is a struggle. The preloaded maps are very inaccurate and even totally useless when it comes to coast lines (my main use). There doesn't seem to exist any tecnical support or customer service. I really regret the oceans of time invested to try to understand the use of it and feel quite frustrated about that. Can't recommend it to anyone.

Its crazy their old version came cheap, easy to use, and came with elevation maps upon turning on the device. Price was cheaper too. Got the 66s and i cant be more dissapointed. The old one I had was a garmin 64 or something. It was Grey and bought 5 or 6 years ago...my family misplaced and lost it. Returning my 66s unless customer support can help me tomorrow

Thank you for your question. You have the option to remove the Live Geocaching data by - 1.Pressing MENU twice to reach the main menu. 2. Select SETUP. 3. Select GEOCACHING. 4. Select GEOCACHING LIVE. 5. Select REMOVE LIVE DATA. 6. Select YES to remove the live data from the device. I hope this helps.
