You probably thought she was scary because she did play Zula in Conan the Destroyer. She was tough as hell in that movie, and that is where I first remember seeing Grace Jones as a kid. But seeing her here in this interview, she did have an absolutely flawless complexion and skin. I was only 5 at the time this interview was done, so I didn't see it at that time, of course.

It's so weird this fear. I saw her first on a record cover and I stopped immediately and had to take a closer look. I had to know who she was, what she was doing, and why. I have found her captivating and utterly sublime since the moment I first encountered her, and her lack of fear and bold choices, unapologetic approach to life have all contributed to the inspiration she brought to me. I was 18 when this interviewed happened. Back then I always thought of Grace Jones as unattractive and scary. Looking at her now I see how absolutely stunning she is, and I realize she had been type cast, of course. She played those roles brilliantly. This video shows how far we've come since then in understanding how gender is perceived.

No offense, but the standard of beauty that she was displaying was not widely accepted by yourself, nor most of society so of course you would find her unattractive and scary. Grace Jones would be first in line for playing Garnet if we had a live-action theatrical film along with Josh Gad as Steven, Chrissy Metz as Connie, Yukari Ōshima as Pearl, Octavia Spencer as Amythest, Susan Anton as Peridot, Joe Pesci as Greg Universe, Christopher Lambert as Jasper, & Marc Summers as Mayor Dewey. The Interviewers name is Maurice Parker started out in a show called Simon Townsends Wonder World in the early eighties. It was an Australian kids show. Probably doesn't even know who Grace Jones is.
