I can never not listen to this song without getting chills. especially at 3:51 where she says "no, no, no, no please don't, please don't let it get to me." There is so much emotion into the song and the way she says it and the lyrics, its just so real. and the part where she repeats herself and says "god I want to be different." is just so heart breaking. especially at her age and she's able to come up with some real and beautiful lyrics and sing them with so much emotion is so fucking powerful man

"Darkness Keeps Chasing Me" Opening my eyes Seems like it gets harder sometimes Look at the skylight Would you be mad at me if I tried running away to it in the night? I tried to fight But I'm not strong enough I just want you here But I also want to be alone I don't know what I want anymore Every now and then The darkness tries to chase me And my legs are getting tired of running Oh, please don't Please don't let it get to me Oh, I don't want to give up that easily But the darkness keeps chasing me Hiding places remind me of you and I I wanna call you But if I hear your voice I just might cry And I don't even know what the song's about, anymore And I don't know what I want, anymore Every now and then The darkness tries to chase me And my legs are getting tired of running Oh, please don't Please don't let it get to me Oh, I don't want to give up that easily But the darkness keeps chasing River streams down my cheeks Look to my right See you're blowing smoke in your ripped jeans Don't tell me you fell in The darkness is already seeping through Oh, can't you see? I will be different I'm not sure if I can do it all alone God, I want to be different But I'm not sure if I can do it on my own 'Cause every now and then The darkness tries to chase me And my legs are getting tired of running Oh, please don't Please don't let it get to me Oh, I don't want to give up that easily But the darkness keeps chasing me

This is the most beautiful, melancholy, genius piece of work I have ever heard. I am a 63 yr old man and the tears are rolling like a baby, as the lyrics hit home. How can a 13 yr old produce such an adult themed masterpiece? I am paralyzed with emotion from this song. It is certainly worthy of a Grammy!

@@virtualwarp And yet if she is so talentless than how come Taylor Swift won more awards than most famous men and women in history? The only way that could happen is the whole country and other countries of the world obviously who think she is talented. Grace is too but doesn't mean you need to discredit either of them when your words aren't even real facts.

This...this is just something else. She almost makes this song somewhat jazzy, just letting her emotion take the song in places that defy the simple structures of a song. It almost doesn't feel like it has any sort of real song structure at all. Just her, her emotion, and her desperation to escape the "darkness", whatever that may be. In almost ever single one of her songs I can still sense a bit of 13 year old Grace, and that's great, but here, she seems ancient. A mystical, musical being that's been around long before any of us. Just wow...

Can you imagine Grace singing this song 15 years from now? 30 years? 50 years? The depth and textures changing with her life and experience. Not sure why I'm even thinking about it, but this kind of travel feels built into the song. So interesting to have this be the closer of "Just the Beginning." It's a giant song.

She is able to make her voice resonate with love this creates a loving energy pattern in your mind --opening your mind top the flow of love and light in the universe . In this song she is making her voice resonate with longing .Longing is a very important emotion because it purifies our mind so it can be filled with the nectar of love. So far all her songs are intensely positive and emotional which sweeps away negative emotions and allows us to perform at our personal best (i keep them on my MP3 for work )

This is not just music. It's incredibly deep poetry. Sometimes I feel like Graces music just runs all over my heart leaving me in a puddle of my own tears. I connect with this song so much as a person who struggles with severe depression, and this song doesn't make me happy, it doesn't have to, because it lets me know that I'm not alone...and that I'm not the only one! Thanks for always being there for me Grace, I could of have done bad things to myself without your songs, so you saved my life...literally

These sentiments keep getting expressed over and over again for a reason, they're true. There was a time before Grace introduced herself to the world when I was days away from giving up. I still struggle at times, but not as much or as desperately as before, and I thank Grace for that. She came into my life, without her ever being aware of it, and saved me, not only with her profound music, but by her example. If this child could conquer her fears and stress to embark on an artistic and business adventure that crushes many adults and stay positive and caring and giving, the I have no excuse as an adult not to tackle my own challenges. Grace is inspirational on so many levels. She has most likely saved hundreds of people like myself across the planet without ever being aware of it.

This is about depression, right? That darkness that comes along once in a while, without any reason but its desire to chase you. That feeling when you cry for help but nobody understands what you're talking about, because they can't even see the darkness. That wish, stronger than anything else, to be someone else, better and stronger, but you're to weak to change. And then the darkness is gone, and life is beautiful again, but you still know that it will come back, and that all your life will be an endless fight with it. I never found a song that described my feelings better than this one. Thank you, Grace. I feel better now, knowing that someone understands me.

Do believe it was Robert Johnson who sold his soul to the devil at the Crossroads for fame as the greatest guitar player. He never stayed in one place for very long because he thought the devil was chasing him. Some think it's her doubts of a career as a singer after she found herself in a recording studio surrounded by bunch of strange faces and her sister back home in school. Someone pointed out Blowing smoke in you ripped jeans is a reference to Miley Cyrus

I tried to fight But I'm not strong enough I just want you here But I also want to be alone I don't know what I want anymore Every now and then The darkness tries to chase me And my legs are getting tired of running Oh, please don't Please don't let it get to me Oh, I don't want to give up that easily But the darkness keeps chasing me Hiding places remind me of you and I I wanna call you But if I hear your voice I just might cry And I don't even know what the song's about, anymore And I don't know what I want, anymore Every now and then The darkness tries to chase me And my legs are getting tired of running Oh, please don't Please don't let it get to me Oh, I don't want to give up that easily But the darkness keeps chasing Weather streams down my cheeks Look to my eyes See you're blowing smoke in your ripped jeans Don't tell me you fell in The darkness is already seeping through Oh, can't you see? I will be different I'm not sure if I can do it all alone God, I want to be different But I'm not sure if I can do it on my own 'Cause every now and then The darkness tries to chase me And my legs are getting tired of running Oh, please don't Please don't let it get to me Oh, I don't want to give up that easily But the darkness keeps chasing me

God makes beautiful things to make the bad moments bearable on this old earth. It could be a flower in the cold winter. It might me a colorful sunset at the end of a bad day. An adorable puppy to give us unconditional love and purpose or a 12 year old angel to bless us with comfort and joy through the gift of music. It's ironic that your name is Grace, because that's what you show everyday. May all of your dreams come true Grace, for your heart is kind and your spirit is true. Hugs!!!

This song has been my emotional outlet since it was first released. You see my wife left me with little to no explanation and I didn't know how to feel because I was so angry, sad and just plain confused. But this song broke my feelings down into real tears and I was somehow able to forgive her and pick up the pieces of my life and finally move on. I hope she will start preforming this song live it's so powerful it literally changes lives, mine included. Thank you Grace for this beautiful Masterpiece.

Her music comes from a place deeper than the heart. It comes from her soul and what God gave her is much more than to be a star! He gave her the gift to touch other people’s soul through her music and be a voice that helps us through our journey here on earth! I thank you for giving me a direct line to my own thoughts and feelings that would have never come without listening to your beautiful art and for working so hard everyday to bring that to people!

Ross Winslow No problem I just really like that she proves that music is more than about being famous that it’s about having fans because she is able to help them through whatever there going through. I love listening to and relating to her music. And knowing that she empathizes with those feelings and understands what those thoughts may feel like then be able to turn it into something that helps others is what makes her a true artist. Imagine what she will do when she personally experiences what she writes about it’s going to be legendary! Lol at least that’s the way I think.

I know I'm late here, but she literally bring me to tears no matter what she sings, and I don't cry over music easily, but this girl, OMG, her voice, emotional Spears left and right. She is so amazing and I'm not religious, but she can only be explained by a higher power. There's no one person that could handle this much talent so well. But Grace does, and she has as early as the day she was born. She is a musical miracle, and she beats even the greatest of all time in my book, and she is the only artist to ever make me break down into tears just because she is so good, not because her music reminds me of lost love, or anything like that, it's just because she is so amazing and her voice tears my heart to pieces Everytime she opens her mouth, she is just that amazing to me. She is someone who will forever change the face of music, and she has already forever changed my life.

I've never heard such a beautiful, gut-wrenching, perfect illustration of depression and the horrible places it takes you to.
