Does God forgive your sins because you pray a prayer? Why do some people use Titus 3:5 to teach that you ARE saved by works of righteousness?

When my son was 11, a Christian guy we knew said that if he got baptized, he would buy him a new bike. (He was already saved) He’s 17 now. We have a joke that “water baptism won’t get you saved, but it might get you a new bike.”.😂 Incidentally, it was a Star Wars bike.😂😂

Why do people frustrate Grace? This truth being taught here is seemingly invisible to those I explain it to.

Thank you, Pastor Steve. It is sad that that most of the evangelical world does not know the Gospel that saves today.

Hey Steve, I have question about your comment on what repentance is. If someone repents (only changes their mind) on something, but does not do anything to show or prove that repentance or does the opposite of what he repented of, was there really repentance. Ex. I say I will not rob banks any longer and I repent of that sin. But you find out I still rob banks on a regular basis. Did I repent? My point is, as I believe scripture teaches about repentance, there needs to be an action along with the change of mind that proves the change in mind to be real. Your thoughts. Acts 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. I use this verse for explanation of repentance only - I know it is not our doctrine: Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Repent always means to change one's mind. The result of repentance will be different based on the doctrinal setting. For example, we are saved when we repent of our religious works and cease trusting them, while choosing to trust Christ alone for our salvation. If it's Israel under a performance covenant, and they repent of failure to perform their end of the covenant, true repentance will cause them to start doing the works.

@@GraceBibleAmbassadors I hear what you are saying. But I did not get saved by repenting, brother. I am saved because I believed by faith in Christ finished work on the cross for my sins, and put my trust in that. It's the faith of Christ that justifies me not my changing my mind. No where I know of does Paul talk about repentance as a requirement for salvation. I would hope if so, he would have mentioned it and confirmed it a number of times, but he does not. From Webster's 1828: Repentance is the relinquishment of any practice, from conviction that it has offended God. So my question still stands: If I repent and don't do anything that shows I repented, is it repentance? I'm not trying to be difficult, I just don't see someone changing their mind then not doing anything about it as a true mind change. :) Thanks for your time and answer.

Right - that's what I said in the comment above didn't I?
