So Abeka does teach you, but the teaching portion is found in the teacher manual. CLE has teaching in the manual, but it is also in the student's workbook. So, basicially, a child could do CLE independently because the teaching is also in the child's book. Of course that would depend on your child's maturity. I usually go through the short lessons as presented in the CLE manual and then have my kids do their lessons independently. However, there are days when I have a lot going on, so they just do their school on their own without me presenting lessons, since their actual workbook has the lesson within it. Both curriculums are great. They are solid, but I think CLE is way less teacher intensive and gives a parent the flexibility of having their children do lessons on their own. I also think that although CLE is just as advanced as Abeka, it introduces things in a gentler way.

I should specify about abeka charging for flash cards around the 9 minute mark. Abeka has Coin manipulatives you can buy and some other things, and that is what I was referring to about them charging for things that you don’t need to buy. You can find everyday items from around your home, or wash some coins, and use those as well if needed for math exercises.

Thank you for this flip through. We use CLE for one of my kiddo’s and I think for 2nd grade I want to switch to BJU!

Fantastic video comparison. The only one I haven't done is cle. I fully agree with you on abeka. I feel like you have to do more than one curriculum to get all the math facts down. Trying to find one that gets multiplication down.

We would practice flash cards at night. I made a excel spreadsheet that had each numbers family and we would date when we did each one so that on the paper we could see numbers that we needed to do. About ten to fifteen minutes per night. She would get to go through maybe two numbers family on her own then I would take the flash cards and quiz her and show the answer after each answer whether it wasn’t right or wrong. Then I made this folder with the numbers family and it’s pretty cool. I’m glad you liked the video

I have CLE math 5 and 7. I like how there's an actual teaching lesson before the problems start. Unless I missed it, I don't see I teaching part in the workbook of BJU and Abeka. With CLE, I can just give them their light unit and they really teach themselves by reading the lesson. Is it like that in Abeka and BJU?
@ashleyvickers69043 жыл бұрын
Yes just depends on each grade and lesson. I did a few flip throughs of other books as well if you want to see them. I plan to do some more flip throughs soon.

What did you say was the best way to get a best price on BJU? the kit from a home party? I'm not familiar with that. Any additional info? Very helpful video BTW.

Homework’s by precepts consultants. You get one in your local area. They have meetings and you go to it and get the same sale as the homeschool conventions. There may be another one soon. Or go to a homeschool convention. Google it. The bju press homework’s by precepts consultants. And type in your zip code or local area to find your local one. They normally do 10% off and free shipping but sometimes there is deals

Ive been doing Saxon with my second grader but its been a pain because she is so creative and ends up drawing on her dry drill sheet, she hated math this year. CLE seems more attractive even though it has no color. Saxon is a solid math curriculm recommended by her charter. How do i find out if she would have a strong math curriculum with CLE? 😬
@ashleyvickers69043 жыл бұрын
I don’t know. But I do love bju press a lot as well. Math u see if another great one. Short and straight to the point. More mastery style. Like one year is all about multiplication. Another is all about division etc

I wonder if these other books have enough hands on and not only pretty pictures because my child doesnt like Saxon but it does have lots of hands on

Hi! Between CLE, BJU and Abeka maths which one is more teacher led friendly ( less teacher intensive) but also gives a firm foundation in math and math facts? I am considering doing math teacher led next year for 3rd grade. We are current using abeka 2 video led
@lifewithashleynoah98933 жыл бұрын
I would say Cle or bju. I feel like the Abeka workbooks might be enough on their own, however we all know Abeka has a lot to offer. Not the best in some cases. With bju and Cle they both have the same style of lesson teaching independently. You can give them the workbook and leave them to it. But they still might need some help here and there. The teachers guides are awesome in both. Bju offers more extra practice sheets etc.
