WARNING - EPISODES 15-44 HAVE FRAME LOSS (ENCODING ISSUES WHEN FILMING) THIS WAS A TRAGIC AND IGNORANT LOSS ON MY PART, BUT I WORKED SO HARD ON THIS PROJECT (OVER 1 WEEK NON-STOP) TO THROW IT AWAY DUE TO FRAME DROP. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND EPISODES 1-15, YOU CAN DEFINITELY LEARN FROM SKIPPING THROUGH THE REST OF THE VIDEOS. I AM GREATLY SORRY, AND I TALK MORE ABOUT IT IN THE PROLOGUE. SINCE MY END RESULT WAS AMAZING, THERE WAS MORE REASON TO UPLOAD THE ENTIRE PROJECT RATHER THAN SCRAP IT. PUT OUT WORK!! NO REGRETTSSSSS!!!!
Did you ever wonder how to use the Gradient Mesh tool in Adobe Illustrator? If you have never used the tool, I would recommend giving it a try. It is capable of beautiful things within the software of Adobe Illustrator.
This tutorial is a complete movie walkthrough where i teach the audience from A-Z, on how to draw a face realistically in Adobe Illustrator. The entire project uses vector math art, not raster art, to construct a perfect photographic resemblance. The idea is to trick viewers into thinking it is photography. Also, the major benefit of re-creating images in vector, is that this allows for unlimited scale at 100% lossless compression. Scale any drawing to infinity with this beautiful way of drawing.
The featured image can be downloaded here, along with the art hair brushes i used.

Mark, i don't know what/s wrong with youtube algorithm but i have no idea how its not sending massive traffic to your videos because i will be honest with you, you are highly underrated looking at the number of video of your video yet i haven't come across any other channel which gives these immensely detailed walk through. I binged through the entire advance gradient tool playlist and kept wanting more of it. Was sooo good .. Amazing work bro .. keep up the good work. You deserve more from your your audience.

thanks for the comment, take your time with it, its going to take a long time anyway, focus on getting the technique down and then get better from there. Takes practice. I have failed many times at it before its second nature!! :)

What an absolute marathon. I've got a project for my Digital Media class to do a "realistic gradient mesh portrait" so I'm lucky I found your playlist. Not sure if I'm actually gonna be doing as much detail as you did but I'm definitely gonna refer back to these videos!

Very interesting and impressive work! Can you animate this? I envisioned applying this to the game industry

the idea is very similar to game design, but only in 3d space. I used Maya for a few years and was able to barely put together a human body with over 40 hours of work or so. definitely a similar skill, but another animal :) ill stick to illustrator haha
