OH SNAP! If you have a gravel driveway, gravel parking lot, or gravel road that you maintain, OR, if you just love seeing machines at work improving things, than take a look at this one! In today's episode I will literally regrade our mile long driveway on our Southern Illinois farm in mere minutes with my Bobcat T650 CTL skid steer and my ABI attachments SR3 grading attachment. And, this was with me still learning the sr3 grading 'angles,' so I had to run the entire mile long gravel driveway 2 times to get a nice, final grade on it. But if I was proficient with it, I would have only had to grade it out with just one pass each direction. If you are curious about the SR3 attachment, (they make them for tractors, ATV's, UTV's and Vermeer mini skid steer's) here is the link where you can check them out: www.abiattachm...
Now, back to today's episode. We have lived here for about the last 6 years, and maintaining a mile long gravel road is often no easy task. I have tried many different methods so far; Tractor and back blade, tractor and box blade, skid steer and power rake (aka harley rake), and a heavy drag on my UTV/ATV. But up until now, it has always taken more work and time than I had hoped it would and gave me some marginal results overall. One of the reasons that I wanted to try out this SR3 attachment from ABI attachments is because it literally combines the actions of 3 different attachments all in one compact, and easy to use implement. If you have never seen it in action yet here are a couple of links to some of my earlier trials and uses of the SR3 on both dirt and gravel:

Awesome best of luck. I'm still tinkering with the adjustments I'm far from proficient with them.

That piece of equipment is nice because it pulls up some larger stone. I back drag my drive with a heavy 8ft blade on my tractor, and it does a good job, but it leaves just small rock or dust on top.

Kapper awesome job as the Kapper Road Commissioner. You out to run for your county section road commissioner. Same guy that I went to high school with has been road commissioner for our township and has a beautiful shed and office and equipment. Most of the bridge work is contracted out, he is more of a administrator. You be a hands on guy and think of the cool videos. Heck u do it now! ❤️ Your road looks great Joe.

Your keeping a nice crown in the center of the road. That should keep the wheel ruts dryer and less water holding in the ruts. It does a nice job.

Man oh man where has that SR3 been all your life? I’m still trying to figure out how fast you did that parking lot when you first got that beast. That SR3 easily replaces a land plane and a box blade plus its super fast. Not to change the subject but our group got a bull tag for moose this year Kap, going up to the Thunder Bay district in Northern Ontario on the 14th to the 31st of October, hopefully send you some success pictures this year bud

I’m surprised bobcat hasn’t added a backup camera. That would be sweeet. I would have the machine up a tree driving that far backwards LOL. GOOD JOB!!!
@kapperoutdoors
@kapperoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Well I do have a backup camera in there, but it has a concave lens which kind of distorts things so it's really hard to keep it going straight lol. So most of the time I had to physically look backwards

No can do.. But hopefully at some point, I will get the tractor attachment which does pull behind the tractor. So much easier for gravel for sure! Thanks.

All depends on your preference. But if the road gravel is a good base it won't bother it. But usually gravel roads need maintenance from time to time.

@kapperoutdoors
@kapperoutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@coreyedsall It depends.. If you are just doing lawns and maybe gravel driveways the power rake is likely the way to go. But if you are doing anything more than that (rough dirt, clearing debris, dirt with roots, etc) than I'd say the sr 3 is the way to go. Best of luck!

we could never afford that and it would be cracked and crumbled and destroyed after a few years with all of the shifting. It sure would be nice though I totally agree about that
