Thank you for such a useful and good-humoured video. I just made the mod this week and can make a few comments: I used a length of net-curtain wire to thread through the headband, You can screw in a hook and just attach the cable to that. This was nice and easy. Make sure to put holes through the outer rims....I at first didn't realise and put them inside but of course they will be in the way. Because I had to enlarge the hole for the socket a lot in the driver assembly as well as the outer shell, I added some electrical tape internally over the metal plate in case of short circuit. I could not use the securing nut for the socket, so I glued things and when assembled used rubber bands to keep the socket in place til it set. Great result...though now I wish I used a higher-quality socket rather than the cheap one I bought (which can be a bit crackly).

Was gonna do this but the right driver on my pair turned into children's percussion making a rattle sound when shaken. Very sad.

I LOVE Grado gear, but they really need to make these sorts of features standard. Then again, where's the fun in that for us? Ha! Mod on!

thanks for the tutorial. I have a pair of these shitty headphones and after a dozen hours of use the sound started cutting out on one side.

Because they spin 360 degrees it causes problems on the cable, so a common fault when one side dies. I purchased the cable and connectors to do with mod and after finishing, it seems I had a faulty left side driver. A good tip to check before buying parts :)

Why doesn't Grado just build them this way, their cords drive me crazy and are a deal breaker.
