I burst out crying watching this! Not sure why. I shared her joy and triumph so totally. I remembered graduating at the very same university in the early 90s. It was not easy. It never is, but it was so worth it. I remember I would imagine receiving my certificate with the all-important phrase at the end: Degree Completed. Then I would keep going when modules were showing me flames. After my last exam, I remember I was so relieved, I got to Alan Taylor Res and jumped into the swimming pool fully clothed, just for the hell of it. Back in 1989, we weren't even allowed to stay at the university residences on the university premises. We stayed at an old army barracks in Wentworth, a coloured area far away. God is great!

The unfortunate truth that black Americans don’t realize is that Africans have lost their culture as well. Talk to the oldest black african and they can’t tell you what life was like before colonialist times. It’s all been erased. I feel it for you mate, try and vacation in Africa... u will be treated just like a family member at any place u will choose. And try not to base yourself in a hotel, get to the village and experience that.
