Yeah y'all should come to Louisiana. It's "Sportsman's Paradise" for a reason. You could fresh water fish, salt water fish, go crabbing, eat Cajun food and/or Creole food, get you some boudin, go to a couchon-de-lait. There are some beautiful and somewhat diverse state parks where you can rent cabins. And of course get in on a crawfish boil!

Yes. Mr Graham if you can come to the States and have enough time you can do the eastern side of Texas and head into Louisiana. Since you seem to enjoy fishing you should get down on the Gulf Coast. There are lots of outfits that will set you up with gear rental and licenses. Texas Redfish (red drum) is some fine eating. If you get a chance to attend a couchon-de-lait, do so. The roast suckling pig is incredible. The problem is you need to know someone to get in on one of these events.

Crawfish and crab boils are LIFE. I had the pleasure of going to Maryland, home of the crab, and going to this wild party set up of stretches and stretches of 10 foot tables covered in plastic wrap with giant trash cans at the end of each table. Each station had all kinds of cracking mallets and tools. These big burly guys would just come by ever so often with huge piping hot coolers of crab, crawfish, corn, sausage, the works, and splash it across your table, and everyone you were sitting with would just go to town cracking and snapping and sucking heads, and pulling out meat. I loved it. I could not get enough. Living closer to Louisiana, nothing beats crawfish season. Everywhere you go the offerings are there and its just a damn good time! Not to be dramatic or anything, but if you make it to the states and you don't have BBQ and hit up a seafood boil, you have failed, LOL!!!!!

We did a couple of low country boils over the summer here in the Chicago area. My gal is not a fan of crawfish, (it's a texture thing for her,) so we substituted crawfish for shrimp (prawns). We used fairly big (like 16-20 count) uncooked shrimp along with all the other fixings (sausage, taters, corn, etc..) and it came out great. The whole family loved it!

Hey Jono. Several times I have heard you mention high water bills, but not every place has a water "bill" and of the ones that do, some only charge a fee for having the service to your house, not by the gallon or anything. Others still, have their own well on their property. All sorts of arrangements.

The orange is just to add sweetness to the boil. I like adding mushrooms, cauliflower, and so many other things to your boil. We cut pineapple in half and drop them at the very end. That pineapple is so good. Jono, y'all can boil anything if y'all don't have enough crawfish. Crab, shrimp, lobster, or just boil the the potatoes, corn, and all the fixings.

Now for people who can eat seafood we've something called the chicken boil. It's the same thing but instead of crawfish you use chicken pieces like thighs, legs or wing sections. And with a boil try boiled eggs. You'll thank me.

I'm replying to the video about "Exchange Students" in the USA, since I know something about the subject after having helped a young German student who attended a school in Michigan and he had a wonderful time. He actually finished his US diploma in his Junior year of study in the US, and then got his German diploma in what would have been his Senior (4th) year of study, So he did very well. In any event, my area of Northern Virginia has some of the most highly-rated schools in the USA, and the school system welcomes exchange students very enthusiastically. If Garin and Leah are interested, just stop me a note and I will be glad to provide additional details. Take Care!! :D

In Maine, where my parents had a summer home, crawfish was called Crayfish and we had done it the Yankee way (we sweetened it with pure maple syrup). Every region of the US has their own specialties (New England is seafood, maple syrup and maple sugar, desserts, pizza (or apizza, pronounced Ah beets, around the Connecticut River Valley/ Southern Connecticut), hamburgers (which was invented in New Haven, according to the US Government.) and others. New England has some great fish, too. Salmon and Shad run up the rivers in the springtime, some towns have fishing derbys and some have political people campaigning, too. My favorite fish to catch is the Pickerel, they love to fight.

Me and my dad years ago used to go frog-gigging I was 10ish ish to 14 and we had these long poles with like a arrow on the end , and you had your rubber boots on knee high , and we would set out to different ponds in the local area at night , so you walk tho these ponds with the old style flashlights , long before LED's and when you see one sitting on a rock or on the shore , you poke them with this spear ( thats where the gigging comes in ) yep I was right > Frog gigging, also known as frog hunting, is a popular activity in parts of the United States, particularly the South and Midwest. Gigging frogs typically involves using a large spear, or gig, to impale frogs in bodies of water and then pulling them out of the water to be cooked and eaten. Me and my dad loved it ( RIP dad 1922-1995) those was the days never to be repeated again Sad but true as I just turned 60 last month .

You "want to eat a lot of seafood and meat" LOL. I keep forgetting that people from other countries don't eat as much meat as we do. When I was in college as an adult the student housing had people from 52 different countries. Every time the groups got together in the common spaces I would bring a big beef roast or ham or something meat based. The friends from Korea always had the roasts staked out and hovered over them. I never realized that beef was so hard to come by in other parts of the world. Some of the folks had never tried turkey before.

The crawfish looked really good. I'm a little lazy and let the restaurants cook them for me. They usually have clean paper on the table top to catch the mess, and they replace it after every customer. If I want to add crawfish to my gumbo at home, I buy frozen crawfish tails at the grocery store. They are already cleaned, with the shells removed. Good reaction video! Keep-up the good work. 👍

As far as I'm aware, you absolutely can get crawfish imported to Europe from Louisiana. Crawfish season just started in Louisiana, and goes for about half the year (I'm in West Virginia, 1,600+ kilometers from Louisiana, and they're popping up in pre-cooked packages everywhere here). I don't know if you can get them live, but they're still decent. They're farmed down there. Also, I prefer pineapple to oranges in boils like this. It's actually really good with seafood. That, or I'm weird. Also, I feel bad about boiling anything like that, but to eat them you kinda have to. It's not so much about time, it's that the meat often spoils if you kill them instantly vIa some biological mechanism. It's the same with lobster. But I'm with you on that.

crawfish is one of those things that you want to love but man its an acquired taste. Its not like crab/shrimp/lobster. Its a heavily seasoned, tiny little piece of snot. People say that if you dont do it right, they taste like mud and minerals but i think thats an excuse. I went to a place that had tons of people raving about how good they were. Its just not for everybody i guess. It just looks so appetizing that i consider it a letdown.

I don't know if you have wild crawfish in your local streams and if it is legal to catch them. If so, you can usually easily catch crawfish with a live bait trap and bait with some fish parts or other fresh meat scraps. They typically feed nocturnally so set the net in the evening and by morning you'll have something. They also prefer shallow (a couple feet) and slow-moving water. BTY, you don't need to cook corn long at all. Just till it is hot. You'll find it much tastier that way.
