Yep, Christopher Negroni is doing collection reviews!
Today I feature my very first collection review on the channel. This review is for a special supporter of the channel, someone who continually encourages me to push myself to be better. Thank you Rocky. You have amassed quite the collection of modern Rolex favorites. The watches are amazing, but the journey in collecting these watches are the real story. For myself and many other watch lovers out there, it’s those stories that bring it all home, the watches are merely the vessel that bring us together.

Pay the piper, go to DSW and pull the trigger on a solid gold rose GMT, solid yellow gold Skydweller and get a Patek 5227R, a 5496 P and you’re set!

Nice collection, but I never understood the hype behind Wimbledon dial 🤔 Any 36mm Datejust with motif dial would be the best every day watch ❤️

I was not a fan initially, but it’s grown on me. It has some unique lume. And given that Rolex really doesn’t do interesting materials in their dials, this is as close as we can get to a unique dial nowadays. I too am a fan of the 36mm I don’t like 41mm for a datejust, but I understand the popularity.

Great review Chris .it would appear he’s a modern Rolex man and that’s not a bad thing . Value retention is very big for him so makes sense .. However maybe moving away from the ultra hyped pieces may be a refreshing change . Personally hate the three super hyped trinity pieces the choice of instagram flexers . Independent may be an idea you can still have the value retention but not so predictable. If he wants to stay Rolex perhaps pre ceramic , again holds value but projects a very different cool vibe .

I agree. Pre-ceramic Rolex is an excellent value, more character, and still a watch that has plenty of life left. Hype indeed has ruined some of these holy trinity watches. Which really sucks because something like a nautilus, or even an overseas was introduced to the market to be those brands entry level. So it would of been perfect for someone like Rocky who might want a taste. But the flexing has turned entry level into hype and thus hard to get which no longer makes sense in the hierarchy of watch collecting. You can’t just dip your toes and experience those brands entry level anymore. Just look at Rolex OP, great watch, at retail, any more and it doesn’t make sense. Anyways, thank you for watching!

There's too much Rolex in this collection IMO. I get that they're financially safe, reliable and hyped. But if you're never going to sell any watches anyway, what does safe even matter? I'd start eyeballing VC or even Lange. If Rocky NEEDS to stay with Rolex, a dressy Cellini would take that collection to the next level. They may not be hype, but they're still awesome. Getting more of the same model? I dunno, it's pretty boring. If he wants a luxury beater, he's already got it like you say in the black gmt 2... though for a luxrury beater that you could wear anywhere, all day every day, I don't think I'd go Rolex for fear of my arm getting chopped off downtown. I'd consider something a tad more discrete, maybe an Omega or IWC. My 2 cents, not worth much.

I read everyone’s 2 cents 😁. And yes I have to agree with you, I don’t want Rocky to buy the same watches but in different variations. I would love to see him get a VC or Lange, maybe an 1815 (my pick so I can live vicariously through him 😆). I do love the Cellini, although I think Rolex could do themselves a favor and give that line more love.
