Gran Canaria has a lot to offer for landscape photography. Although not a famous landscape photography destination. In this first part, we'll visit three locations in the low-lands of Gran Canaria. A slot canyon, a dune natural reserve and a seascape location with a big blowhole. If you want even more locations to photograph from Gran Canaria be sure to check out my map via the link below.

Hello, Mads! I've been seeing your videos for some time now. I like the mood of your videos, content, etc. I'm from Catalonia, but I live in Utah, another paradise, right? But I'm moving again in a few months to Gran Canaria. I lived there a long time ago. Now, I have the amazing opportunity to come back there and enjoy it with my digital camera. It was nice to watch your video yesterday evening. You captured such stunning images of this lovely landscape. You don't know how excited I am to come back to Gran Canaria, etc. If you ever come to the island, let me know, and we can shoot together... Thanks for all, and be safe! Cheers from Utah.

Thanks, this was a very useful video. A lot of very good information provided. I would not have thought that the island was as photogenic as it appears. You have a very accommodating "significant other" because it is nice to have the human element for scale. Indeed a good use of Sophie throughout the dune sequence. I take it she is a photographer also (that would help). Thank you for all of your thinking that you made available to us.

@MadsPeterIversen
@MadsPeterIversen 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there are several reasons why I don't post them. 1. They take away the attention from the photo. 2. I blend and stack and use advanced Photoshop editing to edit my photos so you wouldn't be able to gain any information from the exit data anyway. 3. Settings are really not that important. If there is anything to be aware of I usually talk about it in the video. Showing the exif data of my photos is basically cheating people into thinking they can get photos like mine in one shot and that's simply not the case.

One of my 2 favourite photos are from there, one from the Sand dunes and one from the highlands with the curved roads and Tenerife on the horizon (literally from a lay-by). You also get beautiful Golden Sunset light......and a beer is cheaper than Iceland :-).The only downside is that you don't get much on the way of cloud....but still, the beer is cheaper than Iceland :-)

@@MadsPeterIversen Well done for doing that Mads. When I was there last year, I couldn't make heads or tails out of where the restricted zones were. Mads Peter, I'm very curious for one thing, where and how did you find the information about the slot canyon? I have been several times at Gran Canaria, have searched the internet, but never found the canyon... ;-( So I really like to know how you got the knowledge about the canyon. Thank you my friend! I'm waiting for the second video, so please speed up a little.... ;-)

Lol, thanks, well next video is a short from Iceland, but then it'll be part two of Gran Canaria. As far as I remember I saw a photo from there when I searched for "landscape photography Gran Canaria" on google. After that, I just searched for "Canyon in Gran Canaria" or "slot canyon gran canaria" and found a blog with its name and where it was located. Just some fast google searches :)

Looking forward to your next video Mads. I've just booked my next trip to Gran Canaria, so will be buying your map. Your Faroe Islands one was really helpful when I was there earlier in the year. El Bufadero La Garita can be very unpredictable. The first time I went there it was performing well all week and I eventually go this sunrise shot www.flickr.com/photos/cccsec/35415227416/in/dateposted-friend/. When I went back last year it was completely benigne and local kids were using it as a swimming pool. Diving in and doing stunts that made a mockery of the warning signs. One had the cheek to ask if I was going in! I politely declined:-)

Beautiful shot and funny how it was used as a pool! I would be afraid of a current :p

Thanks Mads. That was a week of early starts to get there in time for sunrise. Morning after morning of complete cloud cover and that shot was my last day on the island... Persistence paid off:-)

OK, so, just watched the video Mads. I didn't link GranCanaria to landscape photography, I thought it was more a surfing spot only, I'm surprised. I understand you were not so optimistic about Antelope Canyon then ? Tourist trap or over-commercialized ?

Just too many people crammed into a narrow canyon. It's beautiful but you don't have time or room to explore and have fun.

Try visiting Canyon X near Page, Arizona. It's part of the Antelope Canyon system, but much less well known--at least it was 2 years ago when we were there. My husband and I were the only two people on one of the morning tours. The guide let us take as much time as we wanted, which was far different than our experience a couple of years earlier when we saw Lower Antelope Canyon.

The pictures of the blowhole are amazing. Don't you have problems with a delay in the camera between pressing the button and making the photo? When I see something happening and I press the button I am normally too late, because of the delay. What is your secret?

What is the name and location of the slot canyon? Which road is it on? I am going to GC in November and will hire a car.

Nice videos as always. A suggestion though, when you use your girlfriend as a model try to find some outfits appropriate like bright colors clothing to separate her from the background. i am sure it will be provide nicer photos.
