Ich war im Publikum dabei und denke der Kampf war phantastisch. -I was present in the crowd and am thinking this bout was phantastic.

Arthur is impressively fast. I don't know how Björn managed to keep his cool; watching this video I'm very frustrated for him. Props to them.

So I talked to Björn Rüther few days after the Final Bout while editing the Video. I mentioned that he got hit 3-4 times the same way. His reply was like "I know. This is my sweet weakspot". So lets see what brings the next tournaments and if Bjoern optimized this weak spot

What I think is that they were both clever fencers and quick attack head thrust. Bjorn deceived Arthur by running forward into range, then bang! I cheered out loud. I thought it was an excellent match. I wish that a translation of the German into English was available.

Danke lieber Daniel. Auf dem Gathering waren überall richtig gute Gefechte! Ich wünschte ich hätte dieses Jahr ein paar aufnehmen können! Dann wäre das grausige Jahr viel besser vergangen :)

While I enjoyed the combat, I speak no German and keeping track of the points and engagements was difficult. If you would subtitle some of the judge commentary, or at least overlay the score, I would be grateful.

Being the shorter opponent and left handed seems to be a really good combo

Left handed opponents are just not usual und the right Ochs to block the normal oberhau of lefthanders is in full gear hard to achieve. In this bout Björn leaves often his hands open or stays too long in exposed position so Arthur can find quick his nearest target.

Bjorn keeps getting hit in the head because his hands are too low for the parry. Meyer repeatedly says to keep the hands high for the parry and it shows.

Meyer is specialist for Rapier therefore he says it. In Rapier you try to bow forward so your lower openings are harder to reach and therefore you can defend your higher openings easier.

Wow! Beeindruckend, wie solche Kämpfe in der modernen Welt ausgetragen werden. Ich muss sagen, dass ich davon fasziniert bin, wie schnell ein Treffer gelandet wird, wenn zwei Profis kämpfen... Gut, man kämpft ja auch nicht um Leben & Tod, da wird man schon aggressiver rangehen.. Habe mich schon immer mehr für die Vergangenheit interessiert, als für Science-Fiction! Außerdem bewundere ich die Fairness, vor allem kurz nach 4:35 von Arthur, als er zugibt, zuerst getroffen worden zu sein! Edit: Ich habe das Video jetzt zuende gesehen und ich muss sagen, die Freude und der Jubel sind wirklich herzerwärmend! So schön echt und frei heraus =)

ja schwertkampf is einfach der knaller. es gibt sehr viele vereine in deutschland, such dir doch einen!

@@JohnyB1989 Lebe ziemlich auf dem Dorf, der nächste Verein wäre sicherlich über 50 km entfernt :/ Habe nämlich noch nie von einem Verein hier in der Nähe gehört. Außerdem wäre ich vermutlich sowieso nicht agil genug :P

trainieren kann jeder und überall! egal ob mit einem stock oder einem lineal. Einfach ein Buch wie zum Beispiel Joachim Meyer: Kunst des Fechtens kaufen und loslegen!

Hi with Fuji XT2, Zeiss 12mm lense and a glidecam. Settings 60fps 1080p. The fujifilm XT3 can 60fps 4k which is a dream.

Hi, ich habe noch die Videos. Ich versuche schon lange alle Einzelstücke zusammen zu fassen aber irgendwie komme ich nicht auf eine gute story. Aber es steht definitiv noch an !

Hallo Björn, habe gerade das Video gefunden-, ist ja wohl cruel. Wenn ich mit meiner Fechterei da ankommen würde, käme es auf =0: irgendwas raus. Habe viel über deine Videos gelernt und auch mit anderen Fechtmeistern verknüpft. Wichtig ist das Überleben auf dem Felde, so sei bestärkt im Glauben über den richtigen Stil. Hi! Glad to hear that you want to participate at the Gathering! 2021 is unfortunately over :( 2022 we are not sure for now. I have one advice: If there will be a Gathering 2022 be very fast with booking. In 10mins all early birds are sold

@@porizkovabasta haha thanks for your practical advice! Trust me we would love too but in Germany there are a lot of safety requirements which have to be fulfilled and these we can’t maintain. So let’s have summer and winter gathering :D

Don't know why longsword gets all the publicity. Rapier is both more interesting to watch and more interesting to study. I think it's some sort of macho thing.

Hi thanks for your thoughts. To call all men and women „Machos“ because the use a well developed and educated two-handed weapon system is too easy to judge. Longsword is super fun and is the most diverse to Olympic fencing which is maybe one of the main reasons. Rapier, Rapier & Dagger and Dussack are super awesome to watch and more important to play with. Currently there is a rapier trend upcoming. One of the main actors here is Chris Lee-Becker. If you need more intel about rapier, tournaments just write him :)
