Really amazing how great they were and all performed and recorded with just one camera and what looks like one microphone stage right and another mike on the left side of the stage . These old videotapes are a true treasure.
@williamcross22798 жыл бұрын
+Lockemeister Actually, three mics. They usually used one on the bass as well as the two mics. Live, they used this same set up most of the time. But, yes, they were the masters of blend and dynamics.

I love watching these old tapes. These fellas would have laughed if you'd have told them, one day someone is going to be watching these shows on a telephone
@robinhood4802 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and probably also laugh if told in person, rather than on the phone. I But perhaps not so if you wrote a letter.
@Ron-vq3zl Жыл бұрын
Ya know, I never thought of that point, but since Curly Seckler lived until Dec. 2017, when he passed at age of 98, I'd bet that just maybe, he got to see a few of these shows on a cell phone, when they were first hitting KZfaq! If so, I gotta wonder now, just what he must've thought, & how he felt, at being able to view these ol' shows on here, OVER A PHONE!! LOL!!! 😊 Ron H. Abilene, TX.

No matter how many people Scruggs pick the banjo, there is only one Earl Scruggs. The maestro.

I heard that the reason for that was a condition Bill Monroe put on them to get his vote , to allow them to join the Grand Ole Opry .
@fiddlingary5 жыл бұрын
The reason is they didnt want to be identified the Monroe sound. Hence no breaks and strumming rhythm with no chopping

@@rickeylocke1118 I have 10 Martha White DVD’s and several and f and s albums and curly does take a break on Earl’s breakdown, this old book of mine, foggy mountain special and or don’t get above your raising and He took your place. Then on some of these songs on he DVD’s he takes no breaks on these songs and other times he does.
