GR and it's satellite towns are well over a million people, and it is a growing area. I live in GR now, but have an attractive employment opportunity in Dearborn. I am torn as I will miss my beloved GR and it's proximity to Lake Michigan, and am fearful of the crime and violence anywhere near Detroit, or is that fear no longer warranted? Is the detroit area safer than MSM would describe?

They both have their pros and cons! Detroit pros more cultural, better food choices, more affordable housing options. Grand Rapids pros shorter commute times, better for raising a family!

My rent was higher in Grand Rapids then Detroit My rent is cheaper In Detroit You can buy a house cheaper In Detroit neighborhoods than Grand Rapids
