Easy Butter Pie Crust Recipe From Scratch - No Chill, No Shortening, No Food Processor, No Sugar

This has been our go-to recipe for homemade pie crust because it is so easy to make and you don't have to chill it. There are only two ingredients other than water. There is no shortening, no sugar, no lard, and no eggs in this recipe. You also don't need a food processor to make it.

For those who want to cut and paste the recipe: Gramdma Feral's Easy Butter Pie Crust Recipe From Scratch (or is it Grandpa's??) 1 cup flour 6 T cold butter--diced up 1 C ice cold water (won't use all of it) Put flour in large bowl. Spread the butter around over the flour. Cut the butter into the flour until it looks like breadcrumbs. Add 4 T cold water from the cup. Mix together with fork to a dough consistency. Get all the loose flour worked in. Squeeze it into a ball with your hand and knead a little bit. Form into a ball. Flour your board. Pat the ball of dough into a round. Roll in all directions from the center out (Grandpa didn't say the center bit but he does it nicely!) to try to get a 10-12" circle, 1/8" thickness. THANK YOU GRANDPA and GRANDMA!!!!! I’ll have to find your other video for making the full pie. This seems simple and budget friendly. Also the video pace is amazing,not too fast that I get overwhelmed and have a panic attack but not so slow I get impatient. I don’t usually like pie but I think my ten year old son would like this,he likes to help in the kitchen but I usually can’t let him much bc I don’t even know what I’m doing most of the time,& being in a rental is so tiny and difficult for us both to be in there at the same time. Another great recipe. So easy. I tried a new recipe the other night. 2 ingredient dough. 1 cup self raising flour 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (regular or nonfat). Mix together. Add more flour if needed. I used it for pizza dough but can use it for anything. I'm going to try pretzels next time.

I will have to say that i absolutely LOVED this recipe. I made a top and bottom crust and for me, I ended up needing 6 1/2 TBS of cold water. That is the only thing. I also froze my butter and grated it in so i wouldn't tire my hand out from my RA. THANKS for a winner recipe!

This was just like our pie crust but we used Crisco years ago. My grandma used 2 butter knives, one in each hand and criss crosed them and sliced them through the Crisco and flour until you had pea sized little balls. Then we added the water like you did and used a fork to press the flour and water into a dough ball! Then roll it out for your pie crusts. God Bless! (Then she took the extra dough trimmings and made her "kluski", boiled them and we ate them waiting for the pie to be done) God Bless!

@@GrandmaFeral I figured as much!😉🥧 Glad your snow melted.❄️ I've still got an inch or so in many places (not enough prolonged sun there), and it's become icy where I bring out the food for the feral/stray cats. Lokai (stray that adopted/took over my yard mid-2020) has been spending more time inside since the snow, wind, and bitter cold. Blaze isn't very happy. Not quite sure how I feel about it, either. At least Mommacat and TabbyBoots can eat in peace without having to defend their bowls (Lokai had to have ALL of them, not just his), but it has moved the turf war indoors now. And no one has used the litterbox in three days.😳😱 Blaze will use it (under duress) when the weather is crummy/cold; Lokai may not know what to do with it. They've both been outside for a couple of minutes over the past few days, but probably not enough time to get the full job done. Hope I don't find any unwelcome surprises around the house.

Grate the cold butter on a box grater, tossing lightly to combine! It goes much quicker to get to the proper consistency and is more evenly distributed. Then proceed as directed!

I would have liked to see you put the pie crust in a dish to pre- bake it. I always have trouble with my crust shrinking or rising up in the middle no matter what I do.

I have a pumpkin pie video using the same pie crust which shows putting the crust in the pie plate. You have to prick the pie crust with a fork a few times before baking. I hope this helps you out. Thank you for watching and have a good day👩🏻

I use this recipe all the time, but I double it. This recipe is only enough dough for a bottom crust, barely. It's OK for pumpkin pie, but for fruit pies, it's gotta be doubled.

Hi the pre-bake means you just bake the pie crust 7 minutes to keep the pie crust from getting soggy. The temperature is 350 degrees.❤️Grandma👩🏻

Sometimes when you try to roll out dough, it wants to keep springing back to a ball doesn’t want to roll out! In that case, let your dog sit for a few minutes and let it relax. Then start rolling again. Make sure it’s good and cold.😊

Hi you bake in a 350 degree oven. First you bake just the pie crust for 7 minutes.( make sure you poke a few holes in the bottom of the crust with a fork before baking) Take out of the oven and add your filling and bake for another 15 minutes or until filling is done.
