!!!THE FIRST FULL DOCUMENTARY ON KZfaq!!
For ancient Egyptians granite was one of the most crucial building materials. A lion’s share of often massive granite blocks was mined from the Aswan quarries. Although ancient Egyptians began to use granite already from the very beginning of the pharaonic period (32nd century BCE), it was during the New Kingdom when the largest quantity of massive megalithic blocks were shaped into wonderful colossal statues or the most impressive New Kingdom monoliths and perfectly carved pieces of art - obelisks. Just imagine that at that time ancient Egyptians were extracting more granite than the pharaohs of the Old Kingdom during the construction of the pyramid complex in Giza! Moreover, ancient Egyptians were so advanced in excavation and processing of granite blocks that even today we can’t explain all the details of this mysterious ancient technology.

Join me to learn more about the history of granite in Egypt! Let’s explore ancient quarries in Aswan and see one of the most famous incomplete megaliths commissioned by Hatshepsut or her successor Thutmose III - “The Unfinished Obelisk” as well as “The Famine Stela” located on mysterious and rarely visited Sehel island, which features hundreds of inscriptions. One of them tells us more about the pharaoh of the Middle Kingdom - Senusret III and his achievements, so let’s go!!!
Join me to get to know more about the ancient history, beliefs, and architecture of this wonderful place!

Hey AS, really pleased you mentioned the Nile flood. Way back when before the Nile was dammed there used to be an aggressive Nile deluge every year...or flood. When I hear people say "they had to move granite 500 miles". Well they did, but they used the power of the Nile to do so. Never underestimate the power of fast flowing water, it could literally pick your house up and move it. I do agree the unfinished obelisk is a bit of a head scratcher and there are still unanswered questions. Maybe they just realised they had bitten off more than they could chew and said "sod that, I'm not trying to pick that up" 😉. Much peace to you, your amazing camera person, and your suspiciously clean Reebok trainers.

Thanks Darren! I totally agree with you, it's crucial to understand that modern Nile is much calmer and differs from the ancient one.

You always tell an ancient story so sweet 🥰 Yes the hieroglyphs are quite crude and do look more like some kind of ancient graffiti but it was really nice to hear the story. It's almost like it was done by a child or they simply lost all of their real tools and technology and it beared no precision. But the obelisk?! That's another story completely, I noticed the scoop marks, very similar to what you see on the stone of the pregnant woman in Baalbek. I have some ideas of ancient high technology machining but most people think I'm just crazy. I think that the ancients were in tune to the earths magnetic fields and natural elements and they knew how to transmit and recieve energy through them and were able to machine rock and it was a more advanced technology than we have today by far lol Anyway, I loved your blue frock 😉 ThanXAncientSitesGirl 🧡🧡🧡

I love your vidios I come a across some new evidence by a guy called brad he found that the scope marks may be aculy drill holes. and that The dierite stones found around the place were realy use drill bits . He stated when the unfinish Obelish was first discovered it was partly covered in ruble in And that ruble were what look like small Granite mill stones these so called mill stones were a spining counter wieght for the Dierite drill bits Also the denastic Egyptians traided with other races who had iron tools. The problem is that it would have all rusted away by now. Do you know the amount of presure that they would have needed to produce those cut marks in The Unfinished Obelisk. Im imagining a 6' wide heavy iron cuting tool. that would have eather been suported on a swinging wooden host Or swinging wooden pole. that hiting the back of a large iron cuting tool. Like say a hammer hiting the back of the wooden handle of a steel chisal. WE know Egyptians began to use iron. Around the year 1200 BC, Egyptians began their Iron Age. But the thing is the Egyptians who built the pyramids could have imported iron tools from Mesopotamia, where iron was used as early as 3000 BCE?
