I love granola, but the cost can be so high for such a small bag. I will show you how to make your own for a fraction of the cost and it is sooooo good.
Granola (I made a half recipe which fills a 1/2 gallon mason jar)
7 c. old fashioned oats
1 c. coconut flakes
1c. wheat bran
1c. nuts. I used sliced almonds and pecans, but use whatever combo you want.
1/2t. salt
1c. maple syrup
3/4c. oil of choice. I used avocado
1T. vanilla
2c. dried fruit. We used a combo but use whatever' sounds good to you. You can also leave the fruit out. I love raisins, blueberries, cherries, apricots, cranberries, etc.
Put all ingredients except the fruit into a bowl and stir well, Place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours. Make sure to stir at the one hour mark and watch every 10 minutes the last half hour until it looks brown and not burned.
When you remove from the oven add the dried fruit.
Store in the container. Lasts for months.
This granola is great on it's own, but super tasty over yogurt.
The best price on many of our pantry staples is Azure Standard. We love their apple juice cranberries, chocolate chips, oats, molasses, flour and just about anything we have purchased. www.azurestandard.com/?a_aid=...
