Watching Grant shoot an 8 under round recently, and comparing it to a “break 75” series, I think Grant just wanted a format that might make for a good watch. No offense should be taken.

Grant plays in Florida, wide open fairways with tons of roll and always great weather. In the UK he struggled to get the ball in play, sometimes not hitting much further than 250 yards into a breeze. He was clearly not in his element. Also the "he had borrowed clubs" argument is bull. He played some great golf in other videos and this was the last video of the trip, he was used them.

I think we all know that Rick actually played a little over his head, and Grant struggled a bit. If they played 10 heads up matches from the same tees I would bet Grant would win at least 7 of them. I'm not taking anything away from Rick, I just think Grant is a notch or two better. In any case I love to watch them both play.

Rick played great and earned that win but I do think Grant was a bit handicapped by not having his own clubs on a course he never played that had a ton of tight fairways and blind shots. In the end it was great content and if it sparked Rick to get his ass out there and practice a bit more it is a win for all of us fans.

Grant did the same video with Erik Anders. Erik (8 handicap) teed off from the forward tees and Grant (scratch golfer) from the tips. I don't think he was trying to make Rick feel small. He just assumed Rick was playing to maybe a 5 or 6 handicap, and rather than give strokes, cut the course by 1,000 yards for him. If you're not used to playing from the forward tees, it can actually throw your game off because of the weird yardages you'll have into greens. Grant knew what he was doing by proposing that game.

Bullcrap. I am 67 now, and play from the senior (gold) tees. I am tearing the course apart. 330 yard par 4's will do that, when you hit drives 275. I hit my 3-wood about 240, and still have an easy wedge into most greens. Straight up, I will be shooting my age in ten years.

Hey Rick. Good golfers who have played a long time know there can be huge ups and downs in their game, no matter how good or experienced they are - even tour pros. There are a variety of reasons that can cause this (age/work/injuries/time/family/body changes/etc). However, good golfers have the fundamentals to eventually figure it out (or make changes) and quickly get back on track to find out what works. The ones who have been watching you play for a long time know you're a good player and there is no doubt (you're a golf pro and you've been playing all your life). We also know you haven't been playing your best golf. But rest assured that we always knew you had what it takes to get motivated and get back on track, which is why we kept on watching. There is a big difference between good golfers who don't play well and inexperienced golfers who don't play well. We know in the grand scheme of things that you're a very good golfer and have our respect. Glad you've re-upped your game again.

Huge respect lost for Rick posting this.. trying to smear Grant's name. Probably feels a bit threatened at how up and coming he is. I love watching Rick, but he's very insecure about his golf game, you can tell by body language when he's playing bad and others are playing good, it seems all about him. Let's face it, Grant had a bad day and Rick had a good one. Grant wins 8-9/10 times were they to do it over again. It's not surprising that Grant wanted to handicap the match in some way, if he'd been watching the Channel of Rick playing like a 12 handicap on the break 75's, then it was absolutely the right call. I think Rick's ego is just bruised here and it shouldn't be taken out on Grant (even if it's posting the video in a jokey manner), there's still an underlying jab in the background and itll have an effect on what the public think, especially when your channel is as big as it is. Again, LOVE your channel and Grant's, but just disappointed in this post.

Grant meant it the most respectful way possible where you took it as a sign of disrespect and "woke the bear" If we're being honest Rick's game a few months ago was hard to watch...REALLY hard to watch. If we were watching THAT Rick and Grant it would have been absolutely embarrassing and I think that's what Grant was trying to avoid. I'm happy to see Rick playing well again and hope it continues, but don't beat around the bush. Rick's game was terribly bad and if that's what it took to get you playing better again you should be thanking Grant.

@@outlander234 Rick is making a lot of changes to his swing and that can be a long journey in itself. Rick has the potential to be as good as he used to be, but he will never be as good as Grant. When it comes to consistency it’s not even close. Maybe in his prime. Keep in mind they played match play. You don’t have to be as good as your opponent to win. Not taking Rick’s W away from him though. He played his best when Grant wasn’t playing too well. That’s golf.

Grant has been playing with the Bryan Bros so much lately and all they do is chirp each other so Rick got a little taste of it and ruffled up some feathers 😂 good thing it pushed him to level up instead of being a pre Madana about it and getting to his head all crazy 😂

I also looked at the 18th a little weird when Grant missed his approach and chip, but I then remembered that sometimes, I play a great game (Bogeys and pars) only to have a meltdown on a hole (7-8 on a par 4) out of no-where with no cameras filming, not even competing with someone and not on the final hole when everything counts. I then go "Oh yeah I forgot,,, Golf." To be fair, Rick was playing a hell of a round where mistakes were punished.

Me thinks you owe Grant a very big "Thank You". If your golf game was truly in the toilet and Grant gave you the nudge you needed to get on the course/driving range enough to turn your game around..aka got your competitive juices flowing, maybe you should thank the guy. You said you shot some of your best content after. That goes to the work you put in after feeling slighted by Grant. *shrugs*. You clearly put the work in to get better but Grant definitely nudged you to get to work.

I don´t think he owes Grant anything. Do you really think Grant´s intent was to help Rick? Basically if you want to nudge someone you´ll provide a more measured response in your exchanges and not belittle them by going "over the top." To me, the comment smacks of ego and immaturity. In fairness to Rick he´s reacted to the insult in a positive manner, which is of his own doing.

@@briantierney4703 This should be fun. I'll give you an example of someone getting pushed to a level they might not of hit without the nudge. Michael Jordan. The Detroit Pistons beat him up for years and that pushed him to get in the gym and get stronger. He then turned into the Jordan everyone knows. Would Jordan be the guy we know today without the challenge like the Pistons? No. Were the nice about the way they pushed him? No. They were trying to rip his head off....and he responded. Not everything is "nice and soft nudges". It took GRANT to say something wreckless for Rick to step his game up....for that, Rick should be thankful someone was able to push him to get better.....just like Jordan should be thankful the Detroit Pistons exist.

Based off what we have seen the last 12-18 months Grant was not that far off on his comment. Although a bit cocky in context Grant is young and perhaps a bit naive. Saying that Grant May have the best swing on KZfaq right now excluding PGA touring pros. George Bryan is the only guy I can think of who is playing better golf than Grant. His recent drubbing of Peter Finch was some of the best golf of any YT golfer ever!

@@djrondo1224 You´re right, Rick has struggled and at times I think his level of play has been an embarrassment to himself. I come to Rick´s channel because he´s very likable and totally honest, he´s good guests, there´s good banter, and I´m impressed with how he brushes off setbacks. I´ve nothing against Grant, he´s a fine lad and doing very well making his way. He´s a solid swing even though I´d prefer if his misses were one way, instead of both ways. As for the best swing on KZfaq, I´d be picking Luke Toomey´s swing, he´s a contributor on Tacogolf´s channel.

@@briantierney4703 No problem and fair assessment. Rick has struggled mightily in some of the videos I have watched last 6 months. In fact there were videos I saw on his channel breaking 75 and I stole that line for my game this past season after shooting 76 five rounds in a row. I have heard if that guy Loomey but I find it a big challenge to find a better swing in YT than Grant. He just lost in the finals and beat out PGA Tour winner Wesley Bryan in a six man shootout yesterday. George who is playing his first tour event this or next week in Bermuda won the shootout.
