Being scared is natural. There are so many amazing coming out stories filled with love and acceptance, as well as a huge number of awful ones. Most however are quite pedestrian. It may take a short while for them to understand. But hopefully they'll be fine with accepting you for who you are. Only you know your circumstances. If you rely on them for a roof, or food, or money, then you'll need to consider that before coming out. Make sure that it's safe for you, and that you're doing it because you want to, not because you feel pressured to. Coming out is a gift that you give to the people you trust. The ones who love and support you for who you are. You're literally giving them a gift of your true self. Save that gift for the right people. And when you're ready, I hope your first hello is as beautiful as you are. ❤️🏳️🌈✊

Thank you for making this song an video it made me cry because as a bisexual for years every since I was 13 I always thought I was different an I needed help an I would basically fight with my self over it. But it also didn't help I had someone in my life that knew an treated me badly for it. But now that I'm in a better environment I accept an love who I am. Thank you for being a special human being 😊

I love this video and song so much… this was the song I’ve always needed and the lyrics “Oh, my, such a relief I can be me” stand out to me because after all these years I’ve finally learned to love myself and accept that fact that I’m queer/ or gay haven’t found the label I’m comfortable using quite frankly

Grant, you have brilliantly articulated the pre-coming-out stress and post-coming-out euphoria, precisely how I felt forty years ago when I came out to my family and friends. Fortunately, I didn't lose a single friendship among everyone I told I was gay. As time passed, I would tell people who asked if I were gay, "Yep." Folks - if you are gay and still dependent upon your parents or other family for housing and food, come out ONLY when you are independent and paying your own way. Please don't risk losing your security by coming out to parents or guardians whom you believe may react negatively - and disown you.

Im so so glad I was introduced to this song. This song truly hits me so hard. We have different situations, but as someone who isn't out to their parents, hearing the worry and emotion in your voice singing those lines brings me to tears. Keep making beautiful music!!

OMG! What a Beautiful song! I'm basically crying over the lyrics and music! If there were more like this to tell a story of coming out it would have not been so hard to do back 30 to 40 years ago! I think it’s safe to say that this music video serves its purpose, taking the phenomenal song that is ‘First Hello’ and putting more power behind every single word of it. Such brilliant storytelling, with beautiful shots of queer love and acceptance. An anthem for the LGBTQIA+ community that being your true self isn’t something to hide or ashamed of, but something to be embraced and celebrated.
