Evolution of all Virtual On games from 1995-2018!
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On (電脳戦機バーチャロン Dennō Senki Bāchyaron, roughly "Computer Fighting Machine Virtual-On") is a series of video games created by Sega AM3 (Amusement Research and Development Department 3, later renamed Hitmaker). The original series was first published for arcades in January 1996. The game features fast, action-oriented gameplay requiring quick reflexes. It has seen four iterations to date and has been ported to several video game consoles.
The mecha designs for all installments of the series were created by robot designer Hajime Katoki. Related merchandise released for sale include plastic models, original soundtracks, trading figurines, light novels and audio drama CDs.
Games included in video:
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On (Virtual-On: Operation Moongate) (1995)
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram (1998)
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Force (2001)
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Marz (2003)
SEGA AGES 2500 Vol. 31: Dennou Senki Virtual-On (2007)
A Certain Magical Virtual-On (2018)

I remember playing this game on an arcade machine around 10 years ago at the Boys and Girls club. Everyone played it and there was one kid who destroyed everyone on that game! I miss playing this game. I remember using the pink robot and using the sliding fade away shots and dodging everything. Good times man. Good times.

Saw and played Virtual On Cyber Troopers once at the Tacoma Dome in the 90's with my late homie during a Carmen concert. We played a few matches since I had a few extra dollars to spend but that was the first and last time we saw the big sit down cabinet machine. Fun times. I miss you homie, Alonzo. Rest well bro.

In college in 97-2001 we had the arcade big machine at my college. Myself and one of that guy dominated. CJ has all the time records. DRU had all the win records. Loved that game.

me too! I used to play a lot at arcade cabinet when it was realeased! I miss that time! But also, not so many people used to play that game, because it was hard to learn the movements at first time. Only in one specifc Arcade center, that lots of people used to play it, like Marvel vs Capcom, with lots of people waiting to join it and play against the others. Even in the lunch time, it used to be crowded. Good times...

the original cybertroopers virtual-on on sega saturn is still the fastest arcade I ve played. Apharmd, Temjin and Viper II were incredible to play. Especially Apharmd: probably the fastest character ever seen in an arcade.

Looking at the video I looks like it. The fast pace battle was fun. Though not sure it is because of the footage used didn't capture the fight well, or it was slowed down from the original. the 00:19 vs the one at 1:24. One you feel like ace pilot vs another ace pilot. the other one feels like freshman on your first practical class. The original I remember temjin feiyen is fast. less accurate homing, but if you dash and line up your attack so all your shots hit, something like bal-bas-bow, jump, detach hand, and shoot beams from your blindspot apharmd I remember was very good at melee with the tongfer Viper 2, got good homing skill.

I instantly loved the SATURN version of Virtual On,it was literally my favourite 2 player game of that 32bit console generation but it just seemed way more fun & easier to play than Virtual On O’T’ on the 360,which has a double analog control pad, unlike the one analog SATURN Nights into Dreams control pad,so I don’t really understand why I had so much more ease of control & enjoyment with the OG Virtual On for the SATURN but regardless I still enjoy a blast of Virtual On O’T on XBLA!It’s a unique gameplay experience!I never ever came across the arcade coin op though.
