It is believed that judo is all about stand up, but it is not truth. Just as many fights end by grappling techniques as by throws. In this video you can see the best grappling techniques of 2017.

Silly question, what's the best defence against a flying armbar?
@GrapplerKingdom
@GrapplerKingdom 6 жыл бұрын
Well, it's a hard one to defend because of how fast and unpredictable it happens. The first thing would probably be to pull your elbows close in, try to rotate your arm so that the opponent couldn't put pressure on joint and try to shake him of or put pressure on him if it hits the ground,. Every thing else is pretty much the same as in defending regular armbar. Here is a video with some good defenses at the beginning: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r9Zxms9m19KVkZc.html.

This is poetry in motion to me. Like most people I hate the rule changes since the last 25 years or so. But when it happens in Judo it is so much more impressive. No one minute crawling on the ground to improve your position before going for a submission. You have to be fast and explosive and you have to get it right.

Man, how many arm bar injuries did we see here? I think a lot. Why is that? Are they tapping too late, the ref not doing anything or is the submitter not letting go when tapped? I kind of think that you don't see as many injuries in jiu-jitsu and I'd like to know why. I remember one judo black belt not letting go when I tapped and then finally yelled and another judo player telling me that judo players jump into arm bars a lot more violently than jiu-jitsu players.
@GrapplerKingdom
@GrapplerKingdom 5 жыл бұрын
I can't say for sure, but I think it has to do with limited time given to compete on the ground. You have less time to set up clean submissions so sometimes guys go overboard with aggressive submissions. On top of that guys who receive submission try to toughen it out till referee stands them up. This trend is gradually disappearing, but when watch highlights you'll only see the most violent, explosive examples.

I think that here are any injury after armbar maybe little pain after finish (and only in a few cases). And judoka player had true, because you have less time to made armbar than jiu-jiutsu therefor in judo you have to attack more quickly and more stronger because if your attack dont finish quickly with success referee can finish your action without points.

No fear white girl normally leave tatami maybe 10-15 seconds after finish this choke and she was ok. But if I was referee I finished this contest some 2-3 seconds early because it is sure that she dont have chance on escape and to continue in this action could be dangerous for her.

@MeroGrumble
@MeroGrumble 5 жыл бұрын

I really like watching judo videos, but there are two things I really don't understand, maybe someone can help me. #1: Why does one opponent, let's say the "downed" opponent, remain passive, allowing the other to submit them? It seems like they could escape, or at least maneuver to a better position if they tried, but they just "turtle up", and wait to be choked/pinned, with little to no resistance. #2: The person officiating/scoring the match seems unconcerned with the fact that an opponent is being choked unconscious right in front of them. From what I've seen, they make no move to stop the action when it's obvious the downed opponent cannot defend themselves. For example, if the judoka doing the choking doesn't feel any tapping, and they don't know their opponent is out cold, will the official just stand there watching?

1. It isn't good observation. In this compilation are succesfully action only , but in judo has lot of situation when uke (defender) successfuly defends herself. escapes etc. In this compilation sometimes look there uke is passive, but he can tired for example because it is compilation only and we don't know the all contest. 2. Referees isnt' unconcerned it is seem you only. And yes refferee have to wait for uke's tap. It is rules. Excaptionely he can give ippon when you see uke is out (you can see this situations at 1:16 and 2:57). But it is rare. Lot of people thinks that these situations are dangerous but it isn't true. Uke is ready very fast and I don't remember any injury after this situation.
