Crochet this easy beginner blanket as a gift for someone you’re grateful for, for a new baby, or as a gift to yourself or your family. The simple double crochet stich is perfect to show off a gradient or ombré yarn.
Two size options: baby/kids blanket and adult throw blanket. The sample blankets used Caron Colorama Halo O’Go yarn.

I love your beautiful blankets. They are absolutely gorgeous, and looks so cozy. I also love the setting you showed them and it was amazing. I am from Cincinnati, Ohio, and it’s pretty healthy here. Thanks so much for the tutorial and free pattern 🤗 I just bought 6 colorama halo cakes and was looking for a baby blanket pattern for this yarn... But looks like I'll have enough for an adult size blanket 🤣 I ALWAYS buy more than I need (especially when it's on sale)

I made that exact purple one. Used the waffle stitch for a yellow one. Love the yarn! I used the balls though, not the O go

THANK YOU so very much for this blanket. I had the yarn and couldn't decide what I wanted to do for a friends blanket, Also tysvm for the chainless dc method. That is an excellent way to keep edges straight. Mine are usually horrible.

Thank you! 💗 I kept these two blankets for my family because my kids love silky yarn. I give a few blankets away every year to various fundraising auctions. I also give some as gifts for friends and family. I don’t usually sell any.

Counting the chains is really tough. If I get to a width that I want and I start the second row, and work to the ends, does it matter what the number of chains are? I was just going to measure the first chain width and then start the second row. As you can tell I am new to this!

Any number of chains is fine! It’s nice to count after the first row just so you know how many stitches you should have in every other row. If your stitch number keeps going down after a few rows then you know that you missed some stitches. You can keep going if it’s just a couple of stitches short, or go back to the last row where you had the right number. Also be aware that the width will grow a bit after you crochet the first few rows. It’s hard to get an accurate width measurement on just the chains. I find that my blankets usually turn out 3-4 inches wider than the width the chain row started out as.

Here’s the free pattern: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/grateful-blanket. I used 2 cakes for the baby/kids blanket and 4 cakes for the adult throw. Some people have made a smaller adult throw with 3 cakes.
