If it's community you’re after, try your hand at our yearly DEAD COVERS PROJECT competition and connect with fellow Dead Heads around the world. Heck, keep your eyes peeled you might even catch a glimpse of Pigpen on keys, Jerry in a GROOVE, Bobby tellin' tales, Mickey talkin' space, Phil and friends, Bill on the beach, or anyone from our extended family.
It's all happenin' right here. Subscribe and you won't miss a thing.

I was at this show and it was so fcuking good. Met a lovely woman at the Jersey Shore a few day earlier. Got on the plane to Buffalo at Newark Airport and there she was heading home. She told me she was meeting up with friends and going to see the Dead. I said, me too! We've been married since 1991!!

I was lucky to have my first mini tour in 89 all in the northeast part of country FOXBORO, RICH STADIUM, GIANT'S STADIUM, PHILLY JFK (AND A SHOW OR TWO I MAY HAVE MISSED) & NOT NECESSARILY IN THAT ORDER. BUT I COUGHT SOME OF THERE BEST SHOWS THEY PLAYED SINCE THE MAGICAL MONTH & YEAR OF MAY 1977. IN MY OPINION THERE FIRST INCREDIBLE STRETCH OF SHOW's THEY PLAYED. "I KNOW THEY HAVE OTHER STRETCHES OF INCREDIBLE MUSIC" BUT BETWEEN 77 & 89 IT'S A TOSS UP AS TO WHICH IS BETTER. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION THERE BOTH SOOOO DAMN GREAT AND TIGHT THAT IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO PICK ONE. IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHICH KEYBOARDIST YOU PREFER. KEITH AND HIS PIANO OR BRENT AND HIS HIGH ENERGY KEYBOARD. NOW I STARTED TOURING IN 88 AT OXFORD SPEEDWAY SO I GREW UP SEEING AND LISTENING TO BRENT SO I AM PARTIAL TO HIM BUT KEITH IS NO SLOUCH HIS PIANO PLAYING AND TIMING IS SECOND TO NONE. I PERSONALLY THINK 89 IS HIGHER ENERGY WHICH I PERSONALLY ENJOY MORE. BUT I LEAVE THE DEBATE TO Y'ALL AND THERE DEFINITELY IS NO LOOSER NO MATTER WHAT YEAR YOU PICK. GOD BLESS THE GRATEFUL DEAD. THE GREATEST BAND TO EVER PLAY LIVE. AGAIN MY OPINION. 🌹💀🌹💓🙏💓🎶🔥🎸🎹🎤🥁🔥🎶

@@kb9788 Half right, Jerry certainly had soul and feel in buckets. But Bob? No, there you are right. What you mean is that Ron had Blues POWER and funk. This is indeed though the start of the tragic decline. Not bad but the flow is gone. The art is replaced by entertaining. Nothing like *kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rpd1kquLsdCniaM.html* from 1971 my favorite year. MAGIC! After this they became mostly BORING! Firing Keith and Donna, big mistake. My last loved LP was the underrated 'Shakedown Street that was funky and groovy. Jerry already looks so poorly here. Both he and Brent were the secret Junkies. How stupid of them both. I lost my two best friends to that poison. look in their eyes!

And don't forget Phil, improvising a different bass line in every measure, without any eye contact. Old time Dead Freaks can make out Phil's key riff from Love Light in the mix. Because Phil usually didn't play loud, his contribution to the band's energy can be overlooked.

What’s crazy is people that aren’t Dead fans and don’t like them always say that you have to be a drugged hippy or drunk just to enjoy them. I like to have a beer while I BBQ in the back yard and put them on the stereo. If you just listen, it just really good time music to chill out to, and it’s really good musicianship.

I got into the dead pretty late in life and I totally understand this. It’s just plain ole good rock music when you get right down to it. Like on a simple level if you like guitars and drums and solos etc you will like the Grateful Dead. I guess I listened to too many haters growing up cause I wasn’t expecting high energy catchy tunes ya know? Lol. Anyway just happy to be here now

Oh my goodness I was there for that show. We jump the wall to get down onto the floor then me and this other big guy just wormed our way toward the front and it was just fantastic. Lots of memories. At least those that I do remember.

This is 1 of my all time favorite "not fade away" versions of the Brent era. He really pulled the Dead into the best incarnations of all, ( no disrespect Pigpen, ). Was a joy watching Jerry/Brent go back and forth EVERY NIGHT!!!! Blessed to have been there. And to think I almost didn't drive up after Foxboro, last minute decision. 1 of best the best I've ever made 🤯🥳

So much love, finesse, soul, and pure sorcery going on here. I do not understand why this is not the most viewed video on the internet ever. The ability they have to channel celestial and ancestral knowledge through their instruments will never be humanly possible again. Thank everyone and everything this video even exists. Holy Moses the heeby jeebies one gets during the hand off soloing is unmatched. Will most likely be consuming this video every day for the rest of my life or as long as the World Wide Web exists.
