Cornell grad here.. I swear they kidnapped me in the snow downtown Ithaca.. to your point I was at Barton so I know how magical it was. The hall itself lent it's wood to the tone. But I'll b damned if giants stadium isn't like fuckin crazy good.. It was strange cause everyone may have had their chops tuned.. ck it my friend, vocals unbelievable. May have missed a few words but they were heating up for the Hall. ✌️

I swear this video is a re-upload. I watched this the first time I took LSD during June of 2020. Jerry's head was blowing up like a balloon and Donna was getting all noodley when she was swaying, the PA also had a weird squiggly line of light that was dancing with the music. Badass night and great video

I went to almost every show on the West Coast in 88-89 so I heard a lot of classic tapes from the 70's. Audio tapes, so we couldn't see her groovy hips, but I can't tell you how everyone was always complaining about how this or that perfect recording was ruined because Donna opened her mouth. Worse than Yoko, because I don't think she was trying to sound weird, and it just destroyed the subtlety of some of Jerry's finest licks. Poor Keith.

So after a 92’ Las Vegas week, our driver crashed in the SUV on our way home. No casualties but we all f’ed up. My dad wrote a nice heart felt letter to the band. He received a letter from PR and a beautiful print with autographs.( Vince and Bruce) Years later I accidentally left it behind in a rental. A year later I came face to face with Jerry in a bar within a dream I was having. Man he was not happy with me. A few months later while on my bike in Boulder co and on mushrooms I went back to that house. I told the guy my story and left with the autographed print. This was two years after his death. Much respect for Jerry, here and there.

I’ve always loved the ska vibe on both songs. Jer bear sounds great - they were tight this whole show. It’s funny when Jerry messes up the lyrics - just carry on. Makes me happy when I see him smiling and digging it - grooving to it even; all that was understandably muted in the later years. RIP gentle captain.

It's because he does it so casually, he's technically a jazz fusion drummer but doesn't seem at all aware of the fact. He could have played for Miles Davis if he was more aggressive and gave a good goddamn where the "1" was at but that wasn't his style. Nothing but respect for this man.

@@joeshafer6806 It’s almost like the drums follow the guitar, not the other way around. He played 2 Travis Bean guitars, in 1975 he was playing the TB1000A . I heard he laughed when he first saw it, you can hear the tonal differences if you listen to some of the Legion of Mary from spring of 75 really sharp and bright, he absolutely tore it up on that TB. In 76 he started playing the TB500 with single coil pickups and added some effects to it in 77’ you can hear that in the Dancin from Ithica (disco was alive!) that was a great era, Jerry on top off his playing and the tone of that aluminum neck beast of TB!
