So glad you included James Finlayson aka Fin/Finn/Jimmy/Jim and Thelma Todd, both are severally underrated; Todd died so young and tragic as well.

Great documentary. I watched a lot of Laurel and Hardy growing up as a kid. In a bygone age, before political correctness and laugh tracks killed comedy, these two men were absolute titans of their art. They will never be surpassed.

I'll never forget in the early 70's, I was in high school, and one of our auditoriums they showed a group of us the classic award winning Laurel & Hardy film, The Music Box. I will never forget it. I had never seen it prior to this showing, though I watched their films all through childhood. I literally laughed so hard, throughout, tears rolled down my cheeks. I couldn't stop! What a couple of big hearted, comedic geniuses. Their comedy, and humanity have literally transcended all generations, and truly made laughter the universal language. I loved them dearly growing up, but The Music Box experience set them atop a pedestal in my heart to which no one else ever managed to climb. R.I.P you two beautiful souls. This world could really use you right now.

Truly a heartwarmimg and bittersweet exploration into their career and care for one another. As a big fan myself it is VERY difficult to think of just one moment but I'll try. In Oliver the 8th, Ollie is knocked out and Stan thinks he fell asleep in the chair. He worries that Ollie might catch a cold and covers him up. Then in The Flying Deuces when Oliver is heartbroken Stan embraces and comforts him very lovingly. Oliver was known to have a great singing voice and was often asked to sing. Lois recounted Oliver would sing to her. I would like to think in their private moments together Babe sung to Stan from time to time and Ollie can sing to Stan and all of their loved ones in heaven for all eternity. And in final I never done this, I would like to thank the patrons for this series as a Stan and Ollie fan. This was very well put together and on the behalf of a greatful community from one greatful fan, I salute you all.

As a person of color, I grew up watching those old Laurel and Hardy shorts in England.as a kid, I couldn't get enough of them to the point where I know the faces of their costars but didn't know their names until years later,I would studie their names like Mae Busch, James Finlayson and Charley Hall. Sometimes I can't get enough of them.

My mother lived next door to James Finlayson when she was growing up on Canyon Dr. I am a native of Culver City; I never saw Hal Roach Studio but I knew Mrs. Culver and their daughter Pat very well. My dad's parents lived across the street from the Culvers on Delmas Terrace in the 1920s. The Culver Hotel was originally called "The Hotel Hunt" in 1924, and Mr. Culver's office was on the 2nd floor at the 'point' of the triangular building. The hotel was once owned by John Wayne too, and its claim to fame is that it housed the Munchkins while they were shooting the Wizard of Oz. Stan Laurel's daughter married one of the cast from Gone With the Wind and they lived on Fairbanks Way around the block from us- I think the family still lives in the house. Stan's son-in-law operated a Western shop on Slauson near the Fox Hills Mall (now Westfield Mall) nearby for many years. Wish I could've met Stan, but he died before I was born. Thank you for including info about Culver City

Beautiful. Brought back memories of watching silent comedy movies on Saturday mornings such as Oliver and Hardy, Keystone Cops, Buster Keaton etc followed by the early “talkies” This would be the early 60s and what makes it special is it was with my beloved dad and how he would laugh, he had an amazing rich belly laugh which filled my childhood.

Some years ago, in the mid-80s I guess, I was at Forest Lawn cemetery to attend a singing performance by my young daughter, who was there to perform in an auditorium on the grounds. Before the show was to begin, I wandered around outside and stumbled onto the final resting place of Stan Laurel. I was so amazed that I just stood by the marker, hanging out with the funniest man I had ever seen on the screen. I did manage to get back to listen to the choir where my daughter was singing, and enjoyed that immensely, too. What an amazing day. When I stumbled onto these videos, I was taken back. So glad to have found this series.

It's a tragedy that you can ask some one in their late teens/early twenties today if they've watched Laurel and Hardy and they say no - they'll never see real comedy genius. It's also a tragedy how young so many of these fabulous people died. Thelma Todd, and I didn't realise how young Jean Harlow was when she died - and were left to wonder what could have been!

Thank you very much for these two videos! I have been a great fan of Laurel and Hardy since seeing them on television in the 1950s, when I was a boy. It is gratifying to see their fame grow ever greater with the passing years. Of all the great comedians that I have had the pleasure of enjoying in different media, their characters are the only ones that, if they were real-life people, I would want to know them - to talk with them, share observations to befriend them, and cherish my friendship with them. Their gentleness (for all the mayhem they caused!) and accessibility have always drawn me to them. As an example, take a look at the first moments of “Towed in a Hole,” when they are discussing whether to catch their own fish to sell, rather than rely on a middleman. You know you’re watching a film with two actors playing their roles. But they play their roles such that it’s like eavesdropping on the other side of a fence, just listening to two real-life guys talking! Unless all of their motion pictures disappear and/or are destroyed, there is really no danger of audiences forgetting them. God Bless media like KZfaq for continually making the genius of Laurel and Hardy’s immortality last for the ages. Again, thanks for your videos!

I'm amazed that these two presentations have been here for two years without my seeing them until today! I suspect that we are fellow L&H nuts, and that case, you had to do a lot of editing to get to the basics of all of those bios. Your writing alone deserves some kind of award. Your choices of film clips were perfectly appropriate and had me laughing even while watching this on a computer monitor. Let's also consider your great voiceover work. All that training DID pay off! I'm sure that this project took an incredible amount of research and a WHOLE lot of ambition, and I hope that others who watch these appreciate that as much as I do. Thank you very much!

Absolutely fantastic piece of work. I laughed and cried in equal measure. Sad to know that some places of rest were never found, especially Finn. The story of Mae Busch's remains being unclaimed was also very sad. Thanks for the time and effort in making this.

I think that my favorite one was where everyone was stuck in a traffic jam because of construction. Everyone eventually ends up ripping parts off of others cars, (while the owner of the car just sits there and watches them do it to his car) until they are allowed to drive on. By that time everyone is driving, pretty much, nothing but the frame with wheels, a motor, and seats.

Your videos keep getting better with each one, and the two part videos on Laurel and Hardy Costars is definitely the best of them yet. Hated for it to end, but it definitely had me laughing and crying at times. Thank you for making this and look forward to more in the future.

The program on the co-stars is the one that got my attention. Watch Pardon Us and you'll see the best at their best. "My, my. And still they come". Walter Long, James Finlayson, Tiny Sanford, Sam Lufkin, Harry Bernard. I am still searching to find out the name of the acapella quartet that sings "All Aboard for Birmingham"...woo-wooo.

Part 2 of a wonderful presentation about those whose skills enhanced the Laurel and Hardy films: sympathetic and respectful, it tells much that many of us would never otherwise have come to know. Several comments have been made here about how short the lives of the actors were. It is not easy to say whether the people treated in the documentary were as a group ill favoured, as we tend to overlook how greatly life expectation has risen in recent decades. Laurel and Hardy actors were typically born in the 1890s. A lot of the babies born at that time never saw their first birthday. But on the bright side there were, besides the centenarian Hal Roach, Alice Cooke, who made it to 102, and Mary Carr, the old lady in One Good Turn, who lived to be 99. The late film Atoll K starred Suzy Delair, who died in March 2020, aged 102.

I’ve had a smile on my face most of the time watching this. The tears fell when you quoted Stan saying he wished Babe had been with him to receive the honorary Oscar. Thank you for this wonderful 2-part series! I’m looking forward to your next project.

thanks for this wonderful tribute to Stan and Olly and to their wonderful co stars, I always liked Mae Busch's characters in their shorts, brilliant! glad she was finally interred after' the sons of the desert ' stepped in to give her a proper resting place. If I'm ever feeling blue I put on a laurel and Hardy and am soon cheered up,

It's amazing how old these films are now but yet they are still entertaining. Very interesting to learn some of the lesser known characters that helped make this studio and comedy duo successful. Took me awhile to watch this but you've done an excellent job my friend. The Sins of Hollywood is fascinating and I have never heard of it before. That sure wouldn't be a big deal now. Thanks for taking us on this little film journey. It's been quite a series. The ending seems so sad. I'm glad The Sons of the Desert has memorialized these characters.
