The consistency of Moe Norman's golf swing has fascinated PGA Tour players and amateurs since the 1950s, despite Moe's short-lived stint on the American circuit. ‪@ToddGravesGolf‬, Golf Instructor and Co-founder of the Graves Golf Single Plane Academy, looks back at the Legacy of the World's Greatest Ball-Striker on Moe's Birthday, July 10. Watch the purity of Moe Norman's Single Plane Golf Swing on the golf course and driving range as Todd tells stories from his 10-year friendship with Moe.
PGA Tour Legends have called Moe Norman the World's Greatest Ball-Striker, and Moe Norman's Single Plane golf swing-similar to that of Bryson DeChambeau's swing- has inspired golfers worldwide to play with a simple, consistent, back-friendly swing and discover what he called the "Feeling of Greatness."

In today's age of perfection: swing analysis, angle, wrists cocking, head tilting... Moe kept it simple. It's a shame that I've golfed for over 30+ years and am just now hearing about Moe Norman, a true golf genius with a true golf swing. Too many times we want to me like Tiger or some other PGA pro when we actually just need to be like Moe. My golf game has always been chasing the latest and greatest but I now know what I need to do - Golf from the heart and get over to your academy :)

Has there even been a movie made about Moe? If not, I feel like that'd be a great one. Anytime someone challenges the status quo like Moe did, they are many times made out to be insane or not taken seriously. Makes you wonder, "What could have been?" but by all means everyone who knew him personally said he was unique in that aspect unlike a Tiger Woods type mentality

I started with Natural Golf in Elgin, Illinois when it was first in a little shop in Bartlett and began to grow. This piece is a great tribute to Moe and I can tell how heartfelt it is as you tell the story of your friendship and getting to know him. I got to see Moe at a clinic once and was amazed at his consistency and now, almost 20 years later, I am still playing with a set of original Natural Golf Clubs, although I will be upgrading soon. I'm honored to have seen this from it's infancy to now seeing the GGA and being a part of it, as well. Thanks for including the "old days" with the new Todd....this was a great piece. When I moved from B.C. to Ontario, I was excited to see Glen Abbey, Woodbine, and other things we just heard about out West. This was in early 80,s. As a golfer, Moe Norman,s name came up a few times, but like other iconic things,it was just story to me. First time I was Glen Abbey or Woodbine it was overwhelming. I lived in Oshawa then and one day went Country Lanes golf course in Whitby, for a round. I was looking at a tournament sheet for the following weekend. I saw Moe Norman signed up. I asked the club owner who thought was good enough to pretend to be Moe. He pointed to the little guy sitting on a bench with a driver in his hand. More thrilling than Glen Abbey or Woodbine, was watching him hit balls.

Wow man wow Todd. I fell in love with golf and the purity of the swing 20 years ago. I'm now 64 years old. I'm still trying to find the purity of the swing again. My instructor Jim Rossetto down at Westchester golf near the airport in Los Angeles said that well was in the Master's twice and twice walked away in the middle of it. The incredible story that you laid out shows the purity of not only his swing not only your desire to be so close to it and to teach it but to let all of us know that it's not how far you hit it it's not anything but the purity of the swing I probably can't articulate this properly but it brought tears in my eyes watching. I believe my love for golf is similar. Obviously we all want to score well but more than anything we just want to be out there and enjoy the mechanical components that come natural effortless simple easy yet with Moe obviously perfectly down the line each time he hit that pole at 250 yards. I've never watched him. I had a few friends of mine that were teachers that said he was the purest swing. Now I know why by watching some videos on him and then you're video. Thanks so much for making it. I'm not sure if that movie ever came out? I guess it would have to be a documentary of sorts because I don't think anybody could play Moe Norman character like Moe Norman himself. Thanks so much man. It's a hardship too not know what to do when you're out there it's a great gift to know that you can still do it when you're out there. It might be a better if you gave me through this video then the toaster or the lawn mower LOL thank you man

Todd... I was quarantined for 14 days and all I did was watch all of your videos... I must say they made such an impact on me that as soon as I could go out I had to try the single plane golf swing. And that is exactly what I did. Since the past 2 days I have been practising this swing and though it’s not an easy shift but I can see the advantages already. I can’t thank you enough for all your instructional videos on KZfaq. I will continue to work on the single plane golf swing and I know I can improve my golf and consistency... currently I am a 15 handicap golfer. And for some time I have been trying to improve but could not. Thank you once again.

Appreciate so much Todd with this incredible tribute for Moe! I learned a lot just watching him do his seemingly idiosyncratic but perfect scientific (repeatable) golf swing! I remember Moe's personal principle I learned from him, as I went over reviewing his file of golf videos, (due to my quest for a perfect golf swing) where he mentioned once to his golf fans in reply to their queries, asking him of his secret, he retorted back to them "I will show you, but not tell you." Consequently, from that time onward, he gave me an idea that to be able to discover his secret, I would just watch him do his swing ignoring all his discussion (as he would not tell in anyway because it was his SECRET) and keenly observe his "key secret move" that made him such a greatest ball striker of all times, until I discovered it that the late Moe Norman could never claim he was the only one knows his secret, because I GOT HIS SECRET! :)

My favorite golfer ever. Not because he was dominate, but because of the inspiration he gives me to be a better golfer, not from score, but from a playing mate standpoint. I wouldn’t care what I shot if moe was there.

That was so emotional, I had to give myself a slap. I had heard the name Moe Norman years ago, but had never seen any video of, or about him, untill today. Thanks so much for shareing this with us Todd.

Hi Todd. I can totally relate to how One feels when a close friend passes, especially a friend with whom you have built a personal and working relationship and more so, when you thoroughly enjoy hanging out together. Moe, unfortunately passed too soon. Prematurely in the sense that things appeared to be (finally) trending positively upwards, with the Moe Norman brand becoming increasingly widespread through relationships with you and your related enterprises. We look forward to watching your forthcoming documentary about Moes’ life.

Thanks for this, Todd. Moe was a great man! I learned about him quite a few years ago and am just getting back into golf so will be using his techniques as best I can. Thank you so much for carrying the torch.

What a fantastic insight to Moe Norman, what a great guy. I have struggled to grasp the single plane swing, but I'm finally getting there and the sound of hitting the ball is so sweet I can well understand why Moe hit so many balls, it's additive
