Build, 3 consecutive dams , each dam will keep an existing reservoir always and we dont need to rely on Chinas control over the flow of water, ofcourse needless to say China cant indefinitely keep its dam closed

1st of all, The Brahmaputra's 80% water comes from rain water flown from Arunachal Pradesh. So, there should not be any worries.

Only 15% of the waters of Bhramaputra flow from Chinese territory. 85% of water is drained into the Brahmaputra as a result of the abundant rain falling in the indian North-Eastern states. Besides India is also building dams on the Bhramaputra to contain the little mischief that China could cause.

Let India construct a new Dam at the Border parallel to where China is building a Dam. When China releases water during flooding, India can store that water into our Dam and release it systematically depending upon the volume of water and the velocity that it receives water into the Dam. ❤🇮🇳❤️

India has done exactly the same thing with Bangladesh. By damming the Teesta river, India does not give a single drop of water to Bangladesh during the summer season. On the other hand, during the monsoon season, the dam suddenly opened and drowned 20 million Bangladeshis. This is how it goes year after year.

Sorry wrong information, as per hydrographic survey Chinese Brahmaputra have only 20% of total water volume. 80%water volume of Brahmaputra contributed by India(Arunachal and Assam). Hence Chinese Dams of Brahmaputra have no hydrographic effect on India (Assam and Arunachal).

Something India has done with Bangladesh decades ago and still reduse to share water with Bangladesh. I'm talking about Tista river in West Bengal. It's a bitter pill, isn't it? You agreed to keep 39% of the water, 36% for Bangladesh and 25% shall be let free flow. This was agreed upon ministerial level back in 1983 but India NEVER let this implemened. Then in 2007 India revised the never implemented agreement to 40% for each and 20% for freeflow. Today is January 30, 2024. India still hasn't initiated implementing the agreement. Don't cry on behalf of Bangladesh or Nepal. Instead have shame and rectify yourself first.

As a Kannadiga, now I know what Tamils might have felt after we built the KRS dam. We selfishly dried up Tamilnadu, downstream and didn't batter an eyelid. Now that Mysore and Bangalore are megacities, the water is hardly sufficient for us. So you see dams have a priority side and a deprived side. Same issue with the Ethiopian dam. Thankfully the Brahmaputra belt is blessed with plenty of rain, hoping they'll be ok.

Even today, our villages in Dakshina Kannada have the same names as those in Tamil Nadu - check it out. Our Great Tulu language is as old and similar to Divine Tamil, hence the soft corner and CSK fandom. There are a lot of common words in both languages. Thanks to you guys from the former Mysore state for not helping us during the 1955-56 Plebiscite, we lost Kasaragod to Kerala. We tell that to every generation, just so they are aware that because of your lack of support, we lost namma Kasaragod to Mallus.

@@schloops8473 flooding India will not only depend on this dam ..... Because Brahmaputra receives water from lots of glacier tributaries which originate from eastern arunachal. Also, the width covered by Brahmaputra varies from 2 km to 20 km at places. So to flood Brahmaputra it has to be a combined effort of severe rains in Arunachal and Assam and then if china opens that dam then it will worsen the situation beyond control. Till then alone the dam won't do much flooding ...so yes that dam can affect but can't create on its own flood in Brahmaputra river. As far as low water is concerned, the water level has been gradually declining in the Brahmaputra River. This has resulted in various islets in the river which are called chaar chapori and have been occupied mostly by Bangladeshi Migrants. Again as long as various tributaries don't dry out completely that damn dam can't do much damage. Basically I'm just trying to say don't blow the issue out of proportion.

Any dam can only store water for 1-2 years, then has to release the water. It cannot eternally collect all water. Build a dam downstream - big one to store water in 3 rd year or later.

China is building the dam for future. In future heat waves are going to be much longer and frequent water shortage are going to be normal. Same thing happened between Karnataka and Tamilnadu. After Karnataka built many dams across Cauvery in their state the TN stretch became completely dry. Now once or twice in a year only a flood water reaches TN that too if Karnataka has good rainfall

@@Panther581 lets discuss the issue in detail. 1. Somebody has described Karnataka & TN situation. Karnataka has build many dams to store water due to shortage, not to play games. TN has many dams which are dry, once in 2 years a huge flood fills only about 50% of dam capacity. Couple of dams will only control these waters from chinese dams when released suddenly and store water. As of now, hardly 5% water is consumed rest goes to ocean & floods in Bangladesh. 2. This will happen with all dams in all nations. In US mohack river is recycled 27 times , not a drop goes to ocean. It is better to WORK, not bullshit with talk.

Well the same question Punjab asks , how the water of Punjab is barely given to Punjab ?? Dam constructed on Punjab water , when Punjab need its water owening from its 5 rives only 5 % water is given to Punjab , rest given to other states. And when the Dam is overflown the water is left unplanned and Punjab drowns.

As a Bangladeshi I am also afraid of this matter but India has done such kind of dam in Ganga River( in Bangladesh it's Jamuna)and Tista River which creates disaster at the time of monsoon in Bangladesh and in winter shortage of water creates sand bed like desert. The dam will instead regulate the flow of the river thereby ensuring continuous supply of water throughout the year. India should stop this kind of journalism especially when China is involved. Hello my friend. Very well said 👍 I've debated with Indians online for at least 20 years. Unfortunately, this is the norm of Indian media. Indian media has ALWAYS been like this. So this is not something new. If you do a search on Google of _"India and China"_ and set the search filter to 15 or 20 years ago, you'll see what I mean. But the interesting thing is if you can read Chinese, then if you do the same search on Chinese blogosphere, you'll see that ALL Chinese news articles about India were ALWAYS positive!!!! In fact, not just news articles. Up until a few years ago, just about ANYTHING on Chinese media about India was ALWAYS positive. ( Edit : But border clashes are of course not reported in positive ways. But there were very few of those in the earlier days, and when they happened, they would simply be reported as border clashes)

The diversion raised salinity levels, contaminated fisheries, hindered navigation, and posed a threat to water quality and public health. Lower levels of soil moisture along with increased salinity have also led to desertification. Bangladesh has been suffering the pain for decades….
