The year is 2021. Women are still fighting for the most primitive of rights. A woman does not have the right over her own body. She is killed because of her gender. She is not allowed to work, go to school. What are you celebrating this Women's day? Watch Gravitas Plus with Palki Sharma.

You should start by critically examining the 'Holy ' literature of all major religions today that is the engine of misogyny. In the name of 'Freedom of Religion' , tyranny & abuse is given a free pass. All religions ( except historically Buddhism) treat Women like Goddesses ( high expectations!) that need to be imprisoned for their 'protection' .

@Rakshita Singh We all have sisters and our sisters live in a society that doesn't discriminates, gives equal(sometimes more) opportunity to women, ultimate freedom is granted and no harassment whatsoever. Stop speaking for other women who're not oppressed, that might discourage men who don't discriminate if they see even the privileged women blaming men just coz they saw a random girl getting exploited. Good to be activist, but don't over do it in life.
@trigcat3107
@trigcat3107 3 жыл бұрын
@Rakshita Singh well I'm a male and i do get harassed by everyone and guess what I've no legal remedy to fix that either. If i open up in front of women they'd consider me weak. Men face a lot of challenges. I do support women, but anything that is suffixed with -ism, gets really rigid after a period of time and gets outdated. There's nothing wrong in empowering innocent girls in villages who're illiterate, but there are huge number of cases pending in courts which dont result in conviction as women in urban belt use those laws to harass men(educated and decent ones). Many are victim of it. You can easily find few, but no media dares to tell plight of men, and men getting harassed at workplace or by other or same gender folks

@trigcat3107 3 жыл бұрын
@@ghosh9970 The keyword is "recent" in comparison to the time scale I'm talking about. There's no inherent misogyny in it rather its overactivism that is Killing the genuine cause of women empowerment and egalitarianism. You need to understand that your logic of egalitarianism doesn't applies to jungle. In competitive environment, the weaker ones are those who suffer. You might not pity on those millions of mices killed by cats, ants getting subdued under paws of any random animal. Similarly, if you look human in entirety, a major chunk of our existence before Neolithic and Iron age phase was under influence of tribalism and "survival of the fittest". If you look in that context, this gender thing looks more meaningless and takes the definition of living being and pricetag on them to miniscule possible extent. Humans became "worth thier existence" after civilization. So does that means when our female population were munkeys did they lost the opportunity of getting rights or they were less of women.? Even if you compare it with men, it simply isn't possible as "rights" are very new phenomenon and it relies on "welfare" and welfare exists in plenty of food storage, river based civilization, less disaster prone/less conflict zone areas, more concentrated huge polity structure encompassing all. World lacked everything back then. Its like asking why didn't we stop fighting back then? Coz that results in major part of human rights violation, and its elderly, kids and women who suffer , but men suffer the most. Rights were bestowed upon those who were considered under some attrocity and given the fact that Indian civilization along with greeks had some very influencial female figures refutes all your claims. Women were respected back then, even though they belong to noble class. Similarly, Indians had decent power distribution in pre jesuit era and many times women enjoyed a greater share of authority devolution among them. There were centre for imparting education to them. How do you put them all under blanket statement? If you're saying women didn't had rights , did all men had rights back then? Absolutely NO. The nobility enjoyed all, irrespective of gender they possessed.

@@ghosh9970 I'm telling you, I've seen women who don't subscribe to feminizm are way more mentally stable and feel proud of thier feminity than feminizt leaning individual like you who self loathe thier existence. Stop calling yourself victims first. Get out of such mentality. Feminizm actually creates a divide by calling you victim even though almost everyone faced discrimination some way or the other. But men are taken as granted, coz they're supposed to die/humiliated. You chose to bash your religion for your misery. I've seen Hindu women doing more often , then very few rebellious xtian women who're either heartbroken or are too modern and I'm yet to see muslim women saying against her religion at all. And I'm talking about common religious girls. Its more in Hinduism despite knowing the fact that it was Hinduism which gave women education and somewhat rights(although un proclaimed). You're a ghosh , i assume you're a brahmin (idk much about castes) but you too have enjoyed privileges at cost of lower class women. So you should repent that. Just saying!

Problem is- World preaches India and supresses its voice by doing the exact same thing. Indian women should look at positive aspect of Indian men too. Its really a matter of shame that Indian women aren't learning a lesson on how to use media as a tool to expose those superpowers who abuse women but preach India when anyone puts finger on them. We've become too self hating just coz we are continuously looking at our women, while ignoring other country women. This is the first global coverage of women's plight I've seen from any Indian news channel. Atleast one channel dared to show west that they keep thier women under restrictions.

That's exactly how I feel about Women's Day. I used this last Women's Day to recognize all the impactful women in my life from family to colleagues to bosses without whom I could not have become the person I am today. It just blows my mind that we are in the 21st century and we still talk about basic rights for women, this is sad and has to change. If everyone do what they can within their circle of influence things will get better. The main culprits behind this issue are archaic cultures and religious views, it's time to throw these down the drain and flush them out! I am not asking anyone to ditch their culture or religion; however, if they see counter-intuitive calls for gender discrimination within their scriptures or social fabric they should ditch these and open their minds. If the entire culture or religion is built on oppressing women and not granting them equal rights as a premise, then this is the time to question these norms and values with logic and openness. Don't blame the culture, blame yourself for not actively engaging in improving it!

It hurts to see people in chatbox with comments like ' What about men's rights' and all. It may be a bitter pill to swallow, but women on a daily basis face way more challenges than their male counterparts in similar economic and social circles. While it's true that patriarchy hurts men as well, women are far more vulnerable to crime and denial of rights. Saying things like 'not all men' and 'what about men's rights' just makes the narrative about you. Feminism is just about equality of gender. So just keep an open heart and instead of being defensive, help change the narrative. Happy Women's Day everyone! ♥️

In corporates, no inequality I have seen in my entire career. In fact, in many cases women get special treatment. Palki you explained the outcomes but didn’t explain WHY part. I suggest you to invite Jordan peterson on your show and lets see the debate with the real data.

They will not highlight this since it's against the narrative. In fact, no offence, I can already see some fallacies especially in the wage gap narrative. I mean, the myth of wage gap is already debunked. Wage Gap is literally the difference between the total avg earned by men as compared to women and there are many factors behind this. Men put more hours, choose more high paying but time consuming and dangerous jobs. In terms of education, women are already outpacing men in terms of earning degrees. In fact, 52% of women in US alone hold a bachelor's degree as compared to only 49% men yet women's representation in STEM is low because most women go for law, psychology and other humanitarian fields which are compared to STEM are low earning. Women refrain to go to blue collar jobs too like construction. So, women earn less than men not because of some imaginary workplace discrimination but they want to play safe and want less tedious jobs.

Stop bullshitting based on one or 2 cherrypicked studies, as a Man i can attest that many times i have seem women colleagues working longer hours or late nights overtime , fully unpaid and all they got was Junk food ( Pizza!) as a treat. Men on the other hand got higher annual hikes in appraisals for SAME ratings. My spouse also worked fairly long hours and had to deal with overly flirty male colleagues as well as vicious female colleagues, and companies dont understand that women face a different kind of burden at work that majority of Men don't face which eats some of their productivity.

@@subhankarbaral9236 I do agree with the wage gap being caused by different choices in career paths, but to say that workplace discrimination is "imaginary" is huge stretch. where I'm from, being a woman is actually considered a valid reason to deny a promotion, and they only consider a female candidate after all the male candidates have been evaluated and are found to be lacking in some capacity. women are also called "bossy", "bitchy" for being assertive. and comments towards women, downplay their competence and focus on their appearance. and for the very small percentage of women who DO outwork men, in the way that Jordan Peterson has talked about-- they are not given the same kind of appreciation. society (and her employees) call her a dried up old hag, wasting her years. so, no. workplace discrimination is real.
