Gravitational waves visualized

5 жыл бұрынVisualizing the action of linearly polarized and circularly polarized gravitational waves on test particles. Wave action is described by the usual TT-gauge metric from linearized general relativity, scaled up to give visible effects.

Die Art und Weise, wie sich die Abstände der Testteilchen dabei ändern, immer in eine Richtung gestreckt und senkrecht dazu gestaucht, ist für Gravitationswellen charakteristisch ("Quadrupolstrahlung"). Zumindest ich kenne unter den üblichen Beispielen für Wellen (Wasser, Schall, elektromagnetische Wellen) keines, bei dem dieses Muster auftritt. Insofern ist das doch eine ziemlich spezielle Art der Wirkung auf Testteilchen.
