Did you notice that McGucket's memories _also_ explain his permanent cast and the bandage on his beard? He got them, when he had an accident in town - but then he forgot all about it, just like he ripped out his hair in one memory, and then thought his hair was falling out in the next one. Because his memory was shot, he never had the cast removed, and over the course of the memories you can see his beard growing out from underneath the bandage, carrying it along. That's the kind of insane attention to detail that makes _Gravity Falls_ such an amazing show.

Fun fact, if you look at the names of the people that have been zapped on the bottles scattered around, a few interesting ones show up, including one called "Mrs Gleeful", a.k.a. Gideon's mother that has been shown to be quite... unwell on the mental side of things. Knowing Bud Gleeful is one of the members of the Society and has proven to have a dubious moral compass multiple times, I think we got the explanation of Gideon's mother mental state in this episode

Wow! This is the first time I hear it and it makes a lot of sense! I thought a lot about the situation of Gideon's mother and they did not really explain to us and also in the final episode of the series after Gideon became a good person she still looks very stressed. Apparently Bud erased her memory many times until she went crazy.

@@Xavier-sl7hn Shared multiverses are a thing. Just like how it was confirmed in DS2 that the MCU is it’s own multiverse apparently separate from the comics’ version. (They have their own TSA and the MCU’s main universe is called 616 just like the original comic’s. Now the “Omniverse”, that’s literally every reality in fiction. It’s a weird distinction but it checks out.

Bill told Dipper he will give him a "HINT" to the author if he gets his body. Then he smashes the computer. BECAUSE IT'S SMASHED DIPPER FINDS THE NAME TAG OF THE COMPUTER. Bill OWNED UP TO HIS DEAL, that's so cool. He never broke the deal, he did his part!

@@Victor_Graves Dude he was literally planning on throwing Dipper's body off of the water tower once he destroyed the journal. He definitely did not mean to provide any assistance. Now, whether or not there's some cosmic clause that requires him to hold up a deal is another matter.

I’ve always been under the impression that, unless the other party participating in the deal doesn’t outright call it off (ex: gideon when he wanted the deed), bill still in some way manages to deliver at the very least the bare minimum of his end, even if they are kinda coincidences (which would be the dipper and laptop situation). Bill is all knowing, as an omnipotent chaotic dream demon maybe he finds it entertaining to plant the seeds of the answers people are looking for, but in a way so obscure that they probably never have a chance of being noticed, and if they are, he plays the long game like giving them pieces of a puzzle, so the answers to what they want aren’t discoverable without a lot more effort.

@@GoldTyanox thats the thing, Bill always holds up his side of the deal whether intentionally or not, with Gideon he was supposed to get him access to the deed, he didn't get the password but he did distract everyone in Stans mind long enough for him to break in and steal it, and with Ford he promised him the secrets of the universe, and he ultimately got trapped traveling the universe.

There are a lot of addiction parallels in McGucket's deterioration. He copes with stress by using something that temporarily offers him pain relief, but the more he does it, the more tempting it becomes to use it for everything that's in any way unpleasant to deal with. What's worse, abusing it has detrimental side effects, so the more he uses it, the more bad memories he has that he wants to forget, and the less capable he becomes of managing stress in a healthier way...he's even built up such a massive tolerance to it that it doesn't affect him nearly as strongly as other people anymore.

Afraid of witches is the farmer guy. He was the guy that sold waddles to mable and he asked if she was a witch when she time travelled and when she said yes he got pitchforks and started a mob. He was also in the short with the weird cow. Society’s views is probably the woodpecker guy because marrying a woodpecker is against those views. and a life of regret would then be blind ivan

My thoughts on the code are: Gideon's tantrums obviously refer to Bud Gleeful Misspelled tattoos is the head chin tattoo guy Shandra's rejections is Toby Determined Society's views refers to the guy who married a woodpecker, as society disapproves of his perfectly legal marriage A fear of witches is Farmer Sprott, who had previously showed up in 1x9 The Time Traveler's Pig, accusing Mabel of being a witch and by process of elimination, a life of regret refers to Blind Ivan

@@andrewdiaz3529 He used to be a carny as a teenager. His coworkers made fun of him for getting the head tattoos and locked him in the "Haunted Freak House" for an entire night. McGucket met him and offered to erase his memory of the incident, which is how he became the first member of the Society. And while all of that happened, the author met the Hand Witch; which means that story from the last episode was probably canon.

I also just want to say, a while before this episode came out, there was a leaked image someone took with their phone of a monitor that shows a younger McGucket writing in the journals. Then after this episode came out, the show's creator Alex Hirsch released a photo of him standing in front of the image, revealing he leaked it just to mess with people.

Some people in the fandom had already predicted the authors identity at this point and so Alex Hirsch leaked fake evidence that Mcgucket was the real author and the fandom went wild. This was a nod to that.

The whip at the end is so beautiful. On the one hand right now whoever sees it for the first time suspects Stan, what is he begging for? Is he bad? But the picture of Dipper and Mabel is not just there Stan loves them very much and it is important to remember this when it comes to the big episodes soon.

Fun fact- animals that we consider to be herbivores will eat meat if it is easily available. Deer/cows/horses will eat baby chicks or any opportunistic meals

I believe the "society's views" is the wood pecker guy as society views hom as weird for marrying a wood pecker and ivan would be a life of regret since its more vague in explanation
