Not to mention the humanitarian aspect, Dan Price was forward thinking enough to know that in the end, this move was the best for his bottom line. #FairnessIsGoodForBusiness

He knows the Milton Friedman school of increasing shareholder value at all costs regardless of employees, customers, and supply chain participants is ruining the business world. Time to focus on stake holders for a while. That is not to say we don't need entrepreneurs or innovators, we do, and they should be rewarded, but it must be in partnership with stakeholders. Dan's fearless as he leads by example and is willing to risk it all to prove there are many more ways than using greed and fear to prosper.

@Tarredandfeatherable Ordinarily, I do not make a practice of replying to replies on my youtube comments. However, your take is, I believe, in line with my own. So, I'll go further. Several things manifested in public consciousness during the last 40 years which make Dan Price seem like a Maverick type character in the world of business. First - the Friedman doctrine(?), second Reagan's firing of the Air Traffic Controllers, then Citizen's United SCOTUS ruling, all framed by an attitude perpetrated in the book "Winning Through Intimidation". The decline in union influence, the TPP, management's moving manufacturing to countries with cheap labor, Romney and his ilk's dismembering of businesses and pillaging of pensions, and the need of elected representatives at the Federal, State, and Local levels to depend on big donors just for name recognition, all stem from the above mentioned events. Lastly, I believe the anthropocene, the age of man as it were, is in danger of total, catastrophic collapse unless we change course. And, much of what I perceive to be detrimental to our future could be changed for the better if we focused on co-operation rather than competition. Thanks for your reply...

This does not work with every companies. There are more factors involved for this to work all around. You have to have a long term visionary + innovative leader with the right personality who can appreciate contribution of the staff ( he thinks he gains more from his employees than they gain from him ), the right altitude and the body of staff who appreciates ( instead of abusing ) this opportunity and the staffs are qualified for the jobs. This cannot be forced on any CEOs or business owners. This is not about capitalism vs socialism vs communism. This is just another form of free market capitalism, just with a different perspective with deeper depth.

Jeff Bezos in particular. Instead of jetting off into space, he could pay his employees a decent wage, fund their healthcare plans and not dock the time needed to use the lavatory.

This is What Teddy Roosevelt, a Republican, wanted Big Corporations to do, is be like CEO Dan Price! in the 1900s, that is why Teddy Roosevelt Busted the Trust on Corporations!

The big corporations become as big as they do, and do the things that they do, not because of some supposed inherent flaw within the natural laws of physics, nature, and the free market, but rather, because of government interference within that free market system. This guy is an example of the virtues of capitalism, not socialism. Free market advocates have been saying all along command all along, that wouldn't give given the chance the only thing that could bring down a bad CEO is a good CEO, and that the good CEO will be willing to pay more to their employees on their own free will and volition within a free market, so long as that CEO is not being forcibly taxed to death by the government. It's never been about business owners not wanting to pay more, it's always been about not wanting the government to interfere and do the paying on their "behalf" and stifle their business in the process.

It's great to see a CEO that doesn't want to keep their employees on the bottom rung of Maslows pyramid. Many corps do that and work by installing fear deliberately. Obviously Dan's employees are off that rung so they can be more creative .I bet his team are huge problem solvers too. I can only dream of the benefits of working knowing that you bills are being paid. That's an extra 70% extra stamina that would go into my work
