The Kelly Clarkson Show

4 жыл бұрын

This CEO truly puts his money where his mouth is. When Dan Price heard that employees at his company were struggling to make ends meet, he instituted a $70,000 annual minimum wage -- and cut his own salary from over $1 million to $70,000 in order to do it. Kelly talks to Dan about why he decided to make such a huge change, and hears from two of Dan's employees how this pay increase has fundamentally changed their lives for the better.

My husband works for a family-owned corporation that prioritizes the health and well-being of their employees. They are generous with sick leave and parental leave, and have an option for employees to pick one day of the week to work from home. They get a discount on health insurance each month after a company-provided physical, and another discount if you agree to quit smoking or continue to not smoke. Dan runs his company as a family, which maybe more companies should do.

Here is a guy that has seen through the fog. Taking care about the employees generate better results for the company. Period! A problem is when the company grows large; someone may employ somebody bad for the job; or there may not be good enough recruits to hire. What would you do then? Either way, I believe Dan made the right decisions for *his* company and I believe there are thousands of employers out there that should rethink their practices. If anyone of their crew does a great job, how to keep them with you? And how to make them do even better? I believe here is the big problem for many employers, they cannot differ their own short-term from their long-term profit. Healthy employees give better ROI over time. Unhealthy employees may give better ROI short-term but LOTS of more headaches to fix the sickness-roll, those who exit, etc., and in the end ruining the business. Which is calling the curse down in themselves, right?

PapaKryptoss I have loved Kelly since American idol. I got arrested like 15 years ago on the night of her concert and I didn’t get out till too late (which was ironically all entirely on purpose, IMAGINE being so hateful?! Could never be me🤕😪) and I’m still not over the fact that I missed seeing her live lolol now I Wanna go to the show she’ll always have a place in my heart she’s so kind hearted and sweet😭🥰

My employer could care less about his employees struggle. They get their big money and house and cars. While we fight debt trying to raise a family.
@chrisg4997

Debt is a choice, but yes employers can do more to help but it’s also the choices we make such as going into credit card debt/student loan debt which are optional not mandatory, it’s both, whats not a choice is where we are born and the cost of living.
@xdarthnessx613
@xdarthnessx613 3 жыл бұрын
@@chrisg4997 Credit card debt isn't really that black or white. To buy a house or a car, you need good credit and credit cards are one of the only ways to do it properly (and guess what? You need a home to get employed and a car to get to that job). Majority of debt is also medical expenses that so few family can afford (most don't even have 500 dollars to save at any given point now).
@chrisg4997
@chrisg4997 3 жыл бұрын
Most people will put wants over their needs most of the time and that’s what gets them in trouble for example (one of my friends bought new speakers instead of paying rent which I let him borrow money and he later paid back because he would’ve been evicted), and with the houses and cars that’s reasonable but less the cars because you can buy used but people want the latest and best cars and do a 5 year payment plan instead of getting used and pay it within the year. If you can’t afford something don’t buy it unless it’s a car but you can buy used to minimize, and if you can’t afford a house, you can rent.

@@xdarthnessx613 well nearly everyone is hiring now, but no one wants to work. They’re paying people more for unemployment right now than to work so they should be able to save because they make more than their last job unless they created more bills for themselves.

Just watched another video of the workers being interviewed they said when the economy took a nosedive they all volunteered to have wage cuts some back to their original wage but when the economy recovered not only did this man put them back on 70 thousand but repaid all the money they lost by taking the wage cut. Such a great story and it proves that because of what he did his workforce are willing to back him when times get hard. Salute to him and his workforce

that is the real ceo, giving livable wage to his employee this is pragmatic approach because employees cannot give its all best when they consistently have a stress how to pay their bills. when employees earn enough to live decent living, they can give all their best and focus to give quality services and making better relationship with costumers. when people think that they grow and prosper in their work, they outpour all thier talent and potentioal to make the company more profitable
