Yeah. The fault lies squarely with the driver for driving recklessly but the other guy was an idiot for taking his belt off. We all know that's a death wish, particularly at high speed

I don't drive anymore due to my disability, but whenever I did, I NEVER left the driveway unless I knew my passenger was wearing their seatbelt. If my passenger didn't put it on, then we just never went anywhere. Even now that I don't drive, I STILL promote wearing seatbelts, because you just never know when an accident could happen.

I was in a head on car accident and broke almost every bone in my body, I was on life support and needed to be put in a induced coma. I also spent6 months in hospital and a live in rehab to learn how to walk again . I did stop breathing on the operating table because I had aspirated into my lungs. So I did come close twice to loosing my life but I know that Thankfully I had my seatbelt on because I know 💯% I would not be here today . Also not long after my accident my very good friend was in a car accident with her daughter and both were not wearing seatbelts. They both were ejected from there vehicle and my good friend is not a paraplegic and her daughter broke her neck . SEATBELTS SAVES LIVES … 🙏

Why isn’t the law to wear a seatbelt. Here in Australia you are required by law to all wear a seatbelt and there are big penalties for not doing so. It should be required by law everywhere.
@gravitymediapro

In the US, there isn’t a national seatbelt law. It varies from state to state, same as helmets on Motorcycles. Here in Montana there is a state law to wear a seatbelt, but the fine is low if I recall. I have a hard time understanding why someone wouldn’t wear one. It seems easy enough.

@@gravitymediapro Here in Australia, the driver gets a hefty fine not only if he isn't wearing a seatbelt, but passengers too. Individual fine $550, even if you as the driver are wearing your seatbelt, 1 passenger who isn't lands you with that penalty, then it increases x by the amount of passengers not wearing one, up to $900. They would no doubt add other charges to that, dangerous driving, endangering life, manslaughter etc. But like you said, the biggest deterrent is self preservation. No-one wants to become a missile

The use of the seat belts and helmets are obligatory since November 30, 1980 here in Swiss. 10 years ago I visited my sister in the US and she wasn't taking that seriously. We were arguing over that (just that). I remember feeling upset and shocked seeing her place her grandchild of 2 in the back seat and telling me on an annoyed tone that she just pretended to fasten her belt in the kids safety seat 🙄 Pfff nothing is gonna happen 🤨 I'm really so so sorry 🌷I'm sending you Love ❤️💕❤️💕❤️

My brother and I had an accident a few years ago. I was slightly distracted for a minute and a lot can happen in that period of time. I partly ended up in the lane of opposite traffic. Freaked, I ended up over correcting and ran off the road into a tree going 55 miles per hour. My memory of the accident itself doesn’t exist. Both my brother and I suffered horrible injuries, my brother had to be cut out of the car by the fire dept and the jaws of life. We both were fortunate enough to be wearing our seatbelts or we would have died immediately. Seatbelts save lives. As it was, my brother spent 3 months in the hospital and I spent 6 months but it’s still better than eternity in the ground. Don’t get distracted when you’re driving and for Pete’s sake where your seatbelt.

I fully believe in the use of seatbelts. However, I also have a DNR and a request for no heroic measures request on file at the closest hospital. If something as horrific as a rollover accident, or head on collision happens to you there’s no telling what injuries you may sustain. I have no desire to live in a vegetative state, chronically impaired, unable to care for myself, or become a burden upon others. I’ve discussed this extensively with my family. The body may be present, but what was once known as the person that you knew may be long gone. There are insurance limitations, lengthy disability wait lists, and court costs / time delays that could be years in the making. Meanwhile my body has essentially given up, but others want my physical presence while I’ve no longer been “me” since the instance of the actual accident. I’ll always wear my seatbelt, but remember that there are other things to be considered in each & every single incident. Sometimes no matter how advanced our medical system may be, the inevitable consequence stares the survivors in the face immediately. May all be safe on the road of life 🤞

This should be the first thing you do when you get in the car. *Airbags do not keep you in the car, also I have seen the horrible injuries from being hit with the airbag while not wearing a seat belt. It is like hitting a brick wall with your face. Massive injuries, including all your teeth smashed, broken nose, eye injuries, broken cheekbones. Multiple surgeries and months or years of rehab. Imagine being a young adult and having to live in a nursing home for months or the rest of your life all because you didn't wear a seat belt. It's incredible to me that anyone wouldn't wear a seat belt.

So its just coincidence that friend asked "do you trust my driving?" and then rolls the vehicle right after he unbuckled? This clip is mostly a warning to wear your seatbelt, but I personally think the biggest take away here is "Don't drive while impared". Driver being impared is probably what led to him asking his friend if he trusts his driving. The passenger being impared is what led to him accepting the drivers challenge to unbuckle because trust would keep him safe. Until it didn't.... Another thing I noticed was the fact that best friend and wife weren't in the same room while sharing what happened that night. He's not the only one that blames himself and I can't blame her for hating him for it. This wasn't an accident! It might not have been intentional, but it was 100% preventable. Wife doesn't have her husband and kids don't have their father just because the driver asked "do you trust my driving?" and the passenger did.... At this point, the driver doesn't even trust his driving anymore. Dale Earnhardt was a good driver... until he wasn't. Don't allow yourself to get that comfortable behind the wheel. 52% of accidents happen within a 5 mile radius of your home simply because you're more comfortable with your surroundings. It's sad that multiple people die in car accidents EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I'm sure theres probably been 10 fender benders around the world just since I started commenting here. This is a sad situation, but the look on the drivers face tells me that he will never forgive himself. The driver is still breathing, but a big piece of him also died that night...

I’m glad to know that this many years later, people are still watching it. It was a tough one to make. I witnessed how truly broken Billy was, and have a whole other story there. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment.

So the fact that alcohol was also a contributing factor gets passed over.

Do you not have laws to put seatbelts on ?.

We do, but in Montana it is a secondary offense - meaning they can’t pull you over just for a seatbelt violation. Troubling.

I don’t want to be trapped in a burning vehicle. I am terrified of entrapment. I just don’t know which to do. Wear a seatbelt or don’t. Like if the vehicle catches on fire I can’t imagine burning alive bc I’m trapped or if the vehicle flips into water and I drown bc I’m trapped. I just try not to think about it but all these possibilities run through my head.

I would always say wear the seatbelt. There are seatbelt cutters that attach to the belt itself, which would possibly solve every issue.

Most seatbelts will release in all situations, but if not just keep a seatbelt cutter in the center of your car. It's rare for someone to drown or die in a fire because their seatbelt got stuck, it's usually for other reasons.

Wearing a Seat Belt should be compulsory. Not only should he have kept his Seat Belt on - he should have had in his thoughts, he was a husband & father with a wife & children depending on him. Parents are meant to be responsible adults, setting a sensible example to their children. I am not writing this for Jeremy - too late sadly. I am writing this for people reading this to learn & to teach their family & friends to think first of others & all impacts their irresponsible behaviour could have on such a lot of people in their lives. That goes for friends driving their friends. As a driver, you have family members to think of, your friends has family members to think of. Drivers are responsible for their passengers safety. One other thought. Parents & other people seeing this video - copy & paste to your computer & show to members of your family & to your friends if you are concerned for them. Be positive. Take action. Do not just tell them about this video, show them!! WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!!

@@gravitymediapro Thank you for your reply. Have you thought of making a video showing effects of drinking alcohol & driving. Speeding & driving. With simulators. Also, why are Car Manufacturer's allowed to manufacture Cars reaching such high speeds. There should be a limit to the speed a Car is allowed to go. Countries have speed limits on all Roads - cars should not be able to go faster than Legal speed limits. Why have Police not campaigned for that? Another video you could make, on effects of house fires & people suffering from death & severe burns. All people need in their homes - in upstairs rooms - could be a panel running along below each window, with a rope ladder stored. Could be contained in compartment to match windowsill. Basically just a deeper inner edge to below windowsills to store a Fire Safety Rope Ladder in each upstairs bedroom. Should be made compulsory in every home. Why have Builders not thought of that? Why have Fire Regulation Authorities not thought of that? Dragon's Den have interest in buildings - no person has thought of Fire Safety Ladders for that program. You could advertise Fire Safety Ladders in your House Fires, death & effects of severe burns video. You could go to Hospitals & film effects all people have to go through to recover from burns from a tragic house fire. Lots for you to think of.

No. I only produce videos for others, no personal projects. I also wouldn’t want to film the tragedy of someone recovering in the hospital. I’m too old with too much sadness in my life.

@@gravitymediapro Thank you for your reply. You are not 'old'. You are 'elderly'. A Senior Citizen. I am sorry for your life's sadness. Every person experiences sadness in their life - you are not alone. Praying you have a Faith in GOD. People with no Faith tend to suffer a worse sadness than people with a Faith. People with a Faith in GOD recover better & live positive, brighter lives.
