Performed CPR on my Dad in September. He was already agonal breathing. Fire Rescue arrived around 4.5 minutes later they shocked him one time came back immediately. Said one minute he was sleeping in bed to the next two firefighters standing over him and he's on the ground. He made it he still has one more procedure to open up one more blockage. It doesn't affect me until folks start telling me I'm a hero, you just saved someone's life, you did it etc. Makes me feel funny like a overwhelmed feeling. The part where she talks about jumping in and performing CPR made me get that same feeling.

@@lindagreenebullington1176 Thank you for taking the time to reply. I think as parents we don't think we deserve them and so are always expecting to have them taken away from us. The fear is very real and we do live that moment in our minds constantly but I am so sorry it became reality for you and hope you can understand you are a good parent and you were not being punished. Maybe it helps to believe in fate and that things are supposed to happen as they do although it can never make sense to lose a young person with a good life ahead of them. Just in case anyone is confused The dad(Todd) is the in the first car, the mom(hope) is in the second car behind Todd, and Eli and Briana were in the very back. They were the only ones on the road. Hope looked in her rearview mirror and didn't see any other cars which means that Eli's car crashed or they pulled over. Briana remembers Eli turning the wheel hard and the car flipping over. Hope and Todd drove up to wear they crashed. Hope got out of the car and saw that the truck was Eli's. Hope went to Briana first and Briana said the mom's name,"Hope." Hope immediate went to Eli and starts doing CPR. Briana couldn't see anything because her eyes were swollen shut but she could hear how bad everything sounded. Alex was waiting for a call from Hope saying that they all arrived. Hope calls again and Alex picks up the phone and all he hears is sirens and Hope saying, "He's not gonna make it, like he's not breathing." Hope informs Alex that Eli's car rolled/flipped over multiple times. Alex runs out into Mariah's living room and says, "Moriah, something bads' really going on." Moriah calls her mom, Hope, and hears sirens +chaos. I believe Alex was going to propose to Eli's sister, Moriah, so they were all driving down to meet Alex and Moriah. The pictures are of her and Moriah. Alex tells Hope, we have to tell her why you guys are on your way. Moriah then finds out that Alex was going to propose to Moriah. Moriah calls Eli's coach, Tom, and tells him that Eli and Bri crashed. Tom is like, "What exit are you guys at? Pull over and I'll come and drive you there." Tom and his wife had already heard about the accident and was going to pick up Moriah and Alex but that's when moriah called Tom. Once everyone was at the hospital, Tom "hands off the last Stickley, the last baby(Moriah)" to Hope and Todd. Alex and Moriah go in and it's the hardest thing to see because Todd, Hope, Eli and Moriah are "the perfect family you think that nothings ever gonna happen to them." Alex remembers Hope saying, "That's not Eli, that's his body. He's gone now, he's in heaven." Eli died on impact.

What’s sad is that often times over-correcting results in a far worse accident than if they just let the car coast off into the median or wherever it was headed. But our brains work on auto-pilot (no pun intended) in situations where we sense danger, so if we veer into the grass our brains tell us “We aren’t supposed to be here. Fix it!” And thus we attempt to correct it, but we over-correct, and it often leads to a far worse outcome. I’m an ICU RN and I’ve had many patients who ended up in far worse accidents due to overcorrecting than if they hadn’t done that. It’s not their fault, it’s instinct, but it’s one of those times where our brain isn’t always making the best decision.

I really wish when in drivers ed they can teach everyone in real life scenarios of driving off pavement and into grass whether it's a shoulder or median and teach them not to jerk the wheel but to ride it out and slow the vehicle down slowly. I take a course to drive patrol cars and they throw us on a course to overcome uncontrollable slide like hydroplaning. We are taught to steer for an object. Im sure if in the real event I wouldn't remember half the words they taught us but atleast muscle memory should kick in and I won't freak out. Lost a few friends to over correction in steering. Happens alot in rural areas. Folks drop off the edge of road and jerk back on.

My boyfriend has drilled it into my head and also his granddaughter’s head “if you run off the road, 1st don’t panic. Take your foot off the gas, don’t hit the brakes when you speed slows some, when you are ready, turn wheel and ease back onto the road. All that could happen with your tires in the grass is you might pick up something to flatten a tire; better that than throwing your car out of control. One summer we had 3 or 4 young drivers killed “over-correcting”, one thing Down here Driver’s Ed has mainly been phased out of the schools. So all the rule learning they are doing is to pass the test. One stretch of our highway has become notorious for head on wrecks; caused by people texting and not maintaining their line. Passing on a double yellow line and stuff such as this. Definitely need to know rules so they can be reformed. Defensive Driving doesn’t pertain to only Senior Citizens, everybody needs to practice it

This is so true, 11yrs ago my ex husband and I lost one of our best friends, he was on his way to our house and after an hr we called, police officer answered the phone. Chris had ran off the road, tried to correct himself but when he did he flew across the street and hit a tree sideways, hitting his head. One of the saddest parts was when we went to see where it happened, the side that he ran off onto was a wide open field and our first thought was, why didn't Chris just coast to a stop and then get back on the road. Like you said though, when we find ourselves in situations such as this our fight and flight response takes over and unfortunately sometimes makes the wrong decision.

It was the most horrific day of my life.... I pray these families heal with time, as much as possible, eventhough time won't change things or bring people back, it does get better. But with that being said, it's been almost 20 years (nearly half of my life), since I lost my Dad, and you kinda always feel broken no matter how long it is. I think that's because when a loved one dies, a little piece of your heart dies with them. 💔

I use to get so upset and mad when I would be running late and stuck behind someone going slow but I learned that it was Gods way of slowing me down and keeping me out of an accident. I have passed some bad accidents that if I had left a little early or that slow car wouldn't have been in my way I could have been involved in. And sometimes I get a gut feeling something is going to happen.

It's crazy that u say that, well that u wrote that and i just read it, bcuz i just said that the other day and i mean its so so so so true. If people wud just go with their gut bcuz your body never lies to you, so many things wud be so different for so many people. This topic is soooooo deep.

A lot of medical examiners say people “died on impact” but my friend who was in a similar car accident with his GF said that when the car flipped and they were hanging upside down my friend was still squeezing his hand back and nodded she was ok” only for the police to get there and cover the car and say she’s gone. Medical examiner told her family she died on impact...He just remembers her holding his hand and nodding she was ok

This video should have been a TEACHING MOMENT!! Unfortunately, they chose to out and out misrepresent, LIE even, about how the accident really happened. She DID remember the accident, and gave the officers the entire story and was released from the hospital a few days after the accident.. He was showing her a video on his cell phone, drifted, over-corrected, caught the edge of the grass and flipped it. Neither were wearing seatbelts... It’s a damn shame they decided ‘protection of reputation’ ranked higher than ‘we made a tragic mistake and here’s how we can all learn from it.”. Not trying to shame anyone, I’ve lost family to self induced deadly collisions, but we didn’t blatantly misrepresent how it occurred.... God Bless the families involved, it’s absolutely something they will ever really get over....

My heart aches for them. My fiancé and I were mugged and he was murdered in front of me. Loosing someone in front of you so tragically affects your life forever. Ptsd and survivors guilt are horrific, flashback nightmares and the oddest thing sending you into a flashback so real you think you’re there. For me it’s sounds of helicopters, baseball bats and a certain chlorine scent. From the medivac, the bats they used to kill him and the pool nearby. I can’t imagine how these people deal with being in cars or on highways. Ugh. Sending them so so much love.

My heart goes out to you I know your heartache I’m still so heart broken you see I lost my husband 9 days short of 21 years because he was on a motorcycle and was hit head on I never got to see him it was recommended that I shouldn’t because of what the accident did to his body this was in 1994 and sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday . Time does help somewhat .

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband & that you weren't given the chance to say goodbye to him. I understand your heartache & know how it feels like it was just yesterday. Sadly time does not heal all wounds. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessons. But it is never gone.

So I try and keeping myself free from that thought and pray that my heart will get better someday! I pray that just like I pray for my heart to heal I pray the same for this family and I hope that someday the pain will get bettter and that God grant them strength! I've been in a car accident as well so I'm always telling friends and family to please drive safe! Which includes no phone at hand, texting, personal distractions, keep your eyes peeled and please never drink and drive!!! I don't care what issues you/they may have when picking up your/their phone while driving just please keep your hands free and eyes on the road at all times! Within seconds an accident can happen so please drive safe and stay safe! 💕

There is nothing more horrifying than that call that there's been an accident and it's bad. My call came a few years ago. My brother, sister, close cousin, and friend were in a bad crash. They couldn't tell us if they were alive. So we drove 30 miles with all the worst thoughts. Passed the crashed truck on the way, with the roof cut off where they had to extricate them. They were lucky. They all had serious injuries but recovered. Scariest day of my life but we got them back. I feel so bad for people that don't get their loved one back.

My son rolled our Jeep into a corn field a few months ago because of overcorrecting. He walked away with pretty much not a scratch. To this day, I don't he realizes how lucky he was. I think he might think I'm crazy for how terrified I was in the minutes it took me to comprehend the situation and to find out he was ok. Those were some of the most excruciating few minutes of my life. I might make him watch this. I don't know, but it breaks my soul to think about this poor family and the pain they're feeling. If my son was ok and it traumatized me, I can't imagine how they must feel. 😔💔
