I started with War and Peace. It was so good that I just stuck with him and other Russian authors. There is a theory that the Russian authors are so good because of the cold weather in Russia. It helps them understand better the human soul because of the stress of the cold.

Can Memoria can bring Adler's Great Books of the Western World back into print? You could take preorders or crowdfund to gauge interest, and the GBWW, along with the companion series could funnel people into taking Memoria College courses. Let the audience know how we can make this happen, our culture is in dire need of citizens who can capably champion the Great Ideas.

I would say Augustinus is western because he's 'western christian' , Homeros and the Roman writers maybe should be called 'semi western' or 'proto western' ; but I don't know nearly enough about typical western traits in literature. Maybe a book written in China before Christ should be called western literature if it's got *all* those western traits somehow and no (or only the most necessary) typical Chinese (or whatever, different from western anyways) traits. What do you think about my idea?

the problem with what is called western great books that they being claimed to be western yet they are not. ancient classical literature was created in a mediterranean civilisation that in its origin is bulit on Mesopotamia and egypt. there is a whole prestactive of environmental causes lead to that literature being created the way it was. for example can we say that Islamic philosophy that was bulit on the Greco Roman philosophy is also a Western Philosophy? how about jewish philo and Maimonides philosophies? saint augustine was Carthaginian living in carthage is he westren? I think the word western is misleading and literature thus is universal and can't be called west or east.
