I grew up in a family of women who loved vintage and antique stuff. Sometimes it's not obvious whether something was a great estate sale or thrift store find...or something that's been in the family for more than a century.

Your Mom did a great job with her painting. I love those old sayings and had forgotten about the one not having a pot to pee in. My family has a lot of old sayings and I have started writing them down so I don’t forget them. People just don’t use them in conversation like we used to since the older generation has passed away.

I agree about asking questions so wish my grandma was still alive so I could ask her so many things 😐

Dear Michelle, thank you for this lovely content. I'm 25 years old but I do have a love for old things like you do, as I keep most of my family's old keepsakes in my bedroom. Being disabled, I have to use pots for when my bladder betrays me in the middle of the night, but those plastic ones just weren't pretty, so I decided to buy some vintage ones made from enamel. I might paint them soon, as looking at yours, it does give it a certain flair. Thank you for you and your family for the inspiration. With love from Indonesia

If the Chamber pot was too bad not sure your mum would have painted it in the '80's? I love anything with a story. Take care 🤗

I have a piano key from the family piano that my dad chopped up for fire wood. I also have some of my nan's horrible ornaments that nobody else wanted when she died.

Long Long gone, lol! 😄 i too remember my Grandmas chamber pot with a lid in the closet between the two bedrooms that was shared. And the outhouse i remember too! Im so lucky to have a picture of Grandmas house out in the country near Numa, Iowa. I remember that house fondly. Now i have a bedpan, a urnal, n a chamber pot in my front flower bed as i think it compliments my junkie rundown house quite well. And no my hubby wouldn't let me have the old toilet to set outside next to it to plant flowers in the tank n toilet part. 🤨 I paricularly like trailing petunias too. Sigh, it would have looked way cute too. 😏🙂

You've convinced me to plant something in the old toilet that I think is still out by the barn-- thanks for the inspiration!

@@romantictangle , 🤯😘, never have i inspired anybody before! You will share what you plant? A gardener once told me if i cut the tops off my tidal wave petunias, they would come back twice as strong. Well he wasnt kidding! Them things grew right out of the old wash bin clear out the yard like a pumpkin plant does! It was so awesome each day i came home from work to see how much further they grew! Fyi, that toilet will not ever get sodden with rain as it has that flushing hole you know. 😘 Same for the tank if the guts are out.

I have 4 antique potties, I have a porcelain chamber pot, a larger porcelain Victorian chamber pot, an antique ironstone bed pan and an enamel bed pan. I don't think it is from 1905, they were porcelain or ceramic, I found ones like yours that are enamel for the 30's or 40's, I didn't think 1905 myself, but looked it up anyhow, yeah closer to mid 1930's early 40's.

Thank you so much! That date makes sense if they bought it after they moved out here to Oregon. I'd tried to look it up myself but wasn't sure what search terms to use and didn't get anywhere.
