Re the suspension bridge - back in the day when the bridge was built, the highway was the Main Street through Loch. To get to the rec reserve you would have walked down, crossed the rail line at a level crossing, crossed the then-quiet Poowong Road, and the suspension bridge was the pedestrian shortcut to avoid the narrow road bridge over the river. The underpass only became necessary when the highway bypass was constructed.

I was wondering about that when I was walking around there, but wasn't sure if the underpass had been built originally to provide easier access to the Train Station. Glad someone thought to put the underpass in when the highway was built. It makes for really great access. It's a great village to walk around. Thanks for the information, always appreciated.
