Gerrard deserves to be there. He is regularly in the conversation as one of the best three midfielders in Premier League history. I personally would put Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano. That trio of Mascherano, Xabi and Stevie G is the best midfield trio in Premier League history and arguably only ever topped by Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta.
