However, I would also mention that the events in Kanjuruhan had a similar way to the 2001 Ghana disaster and the much deadlier one in Peru that killed 328 in 1964. Although the disasters in Peru and Ghana happened because of the referee decisions, the Kanjuruhan one ignited because the host (Arema) didn't accept such a defeat against their big rivals (Persebaya). The football fans invaded a pitch, accompanied by the throwing of missiles from the stands. As a result, police officers had to change their minds by firing a tear gas. Witnesses saw one of the Indonesian Army officer had performed a flying kungfu attack against one of the mobs. The tear gas eventually produced a mass panic, which at this point, brought the darkest history in our country. Many sources said it was around 200, but the Indonesian police said only 125 were killed (which was increased to 135, at that time I was writing here). It's such a national tragedy that will never be forgotten. The last October was full of dark events, as the other countries have experienced the similar tragedy, most notably the one in Seoul that killed 155 peoples, albeit not related to the football events (the Halloween street parade). Once again, Kanjuruhan must be the latest one in terms of sporting disaster. And, we might know, the UK government, notably police, had just apologized the Hillsborough miseries right now.

October 1 tragedy. 135 died in Kanjuruhan. The worst football disaster of all time.
