A tribute I put together a couple of weeks after Greece's amazing win of the Euro Championship in 2004.

I remember before the Euro 2004 campaign started, Fabio Cannavaro had an interview and asked which team doesn't have any chance of winning the trophy. He answered: GREECE.

10 χρονών τότε... Μπαίνει το γκολ... Τρελάθηκε ο πατέρας μου, τούμπα το τραπέζι, ποτήρια, μπύρες, σαλάμια και τυριά στο πάτωμα, αγκαλιές με τη μάνα μου, και στην ταράτσα με το δίκανο στη λήξη του αγώνα. Μία από τις πιο συγκινητικές στιγμές των παιδικών μου χρόνων, θυμάμαι ότι πρώτη φορά στη ζωή μου εκείνη τη μέρα έμαθα τι σημαίνει να κλαις από χαρά. Ελπίζω να ξαναζήσω μια τέτοια βραδιά στο μέλλον... Σας ευχαριστούμε από καρδιάς μάγκες :'(

BASED Greece. I remember being young and cheering Greece with all my heart in the play against Czech Republic and Portugal. The goal from Charisteas has to be one of those goals which I ever yelled louder on my entire life. Stay strong, Greece. Greetings from Peru.

All that past years greeks were able to qualify for major tourneys but still no respect from "experts" to this team. Of course not super million superstars but still skilled with 1000% effort to victor.

I'm a Chilean of Greek blood from both my parents, and I'm already preparing my Greece national skirt for watching all the matches our country will play at the World Cup. In the meantime, I'll be remembering what Greeks are capable of. Why? Because we're Greeks, and we never count our enemies in battle, at difference from our rivals! One of the greatest football stories ever is what this 2004 Greece national squad accomplished at this Euro tournament. No one can ever take that moment away from them. True underdogs came out on top. And this is a clear example of why they call this THE BEAUTIFUL GAME! : )

Charisteas versus France's goal. Absolutely amazing. All the teamwork, the Zagorakis move, the pass to Charisteas, the head's kick to the top corner. One of the best head score I've ever seen. Its elegance and plasticity are insuperable, unforgettable.

Karagounis looks so young. Beating a very strong Portugal twice in Portugal, and knocking off France and the Czech Republic. Can't say they backed in to the title: they beat the best teams. Great memories of a magical month.
