When I was in college I did a paper (in an art history class of all places) on Greek Mythology. I based it off of Hesiod's Theogany. I had to narrow or greatly focus my interest, Greek Mythology is an absolute mammoth collection of works; and frankly, - as it happens, I personally think that Greek Myth is the most beautiful and truly lovely explanation of every facet and nuance of life that I have ever read in my life. I chose to write something about Zeus's many extra marital trysts with mortal women. I will say this, - human males ONLY WISH they had Zeus's skills at 'getting the girl' ! He did absolutely unbelievable things to 'get into the girl's pants' if I may be perhaps a bit tawdry. Put it this way - if Zeus wanted you, - unless you could get help from his wife - Hera, but by then it is just too late (by the time this could occur to you Zeus would already be passing out cigars). The ways in which he would fool and trick women were just incredible, albeit quite entertaining.

@Qwerty-jy9mj
@Qwerty-jy9mj 2 жыл бұрын
Zeus' philandering is more of an observation about his marriage to Hera. Zeus is the sky god progenitor ruler, yet he's "married" to the atmosphere despite all living things needing him to survive. He pervades other living beings and thus appears as an animal to seduce women. As a counterpart, being the sky God, anything that travels through the atmosphere trespasses on him, this is why you have multiple sun myths of oftentimes human men being punished with some sort of sun related torture for cucking Zeus with Hera.

@@marceloorellana5726 Thank you for your reply. It is very much appreciated. I enjoy discussing these type of issues with people that are knowledgeable such as yourself. It is obvious that you are one of the very few exceptions to the people that do not confuse nations with regions. Unfortunately, there is a huge amount that do. I never disagreed about whether it is in Thessaly or not. I do know that it occupies that area also. It is the fact that they do not mention its equal share in Macedonia. And that is a suspicious omission which definitely brings up my insecurities to the front and I must react accordingly. If I were not to mention that then I would not be true to my heritage. Insecurities happen when you are abused by conditions that are beyond your control and unfortunately many supposed and I’ll-conceived facts have been introduced over the past few centuries. It happens more than often and it definitely brings up the worse in oneself. Just take a look at some of the comments below in the section. And people with the narrator’s accent have tried to alter our history for many years now. Again I appreciate your knowledge on the subject. @Qwerty-jy9mj

He wasn't a human, in some versions of the story he formed humans or was given the task to do that, the Olympians then restricted humans out of fear and Prometheus steals fire (technology) from Olympus to give to humans. I can't remember whether he's a son of Chronos or not, but he was sort of the "god" or the representation of forethought, thinking things over, wisdom. He's also represented by lightning, which brings fire to earth where humans live, from the aether which is where the gods live.

Calling Dionysus the god of wine and pleasure is a grave error…he was the god of Katharsis…internal cleansing of individuals a much more important function…the Christian church forcibly removed a bunch of important content of the ancient Greeks’ belief system to establish its own content based on “miracle magic” and the Judaic faith’s “word of god” as opposed to “way of reason”…unfortunately…

Christianity, the Roman Catholic Church erased everything including the greek Academies. It burned the books of old philosophers saving only the ones they could use for their cause. I am Christian and a firm believer in Christ, there is no God but the God of Israel, he is trinity, three personality’s all distinct but one in nature and one in everlasting life. But my Girlfriend is greek so i am trying to learn this stuff. I am Chaldean, so i know my Sumerian/Akkadian/babylonian/Assyrian/Chaldean history. This stuff is abit more complicated but its similar to that off my country’s history.

Compared to Ishtar, Enlil, Marduk, Asshur, Lammassu, shin, Utu, Enki and so on ? God destroyed those fake Gods whoa re actually demons. Until today only ELOHIM is worshipped, all Glory to his name.

Is it not interesting the Greek Pantheon pre-dated the Abrahamic tradition and paralleled other mythologies which also held gods and goddesses? That Islam had an orphan as a prophet who took a six year old child as a partner? I think the location of Greece was perfect because of the beauty of islands and the sea. But what about the deserts? Why don't we hear about Islam's prophet in relation to other traditions? I think he sought to distance himself from the 100,000+ prophets who preceeded him while embracing Moses PBUH and Jesus PBUH as examples of the great disparities that occur in the business of religion. If God in fact sought to enlighten the world is it possible a firm believer is only tempted by alternate systems before they are either dealt with or explained and dispelled. Are believers really trying to lead without trying to figure out what needs to be known to wholeheartedly support such actions like a jihad? Is it dumb to kill in the name of God or is that how the Devil proves he has influence? I think some believers inabilities to see themselves through others' eyes is evil incarnate. A belief system should be rooted in community and not a singular effort or even worse an effort to prostrate yourself among ordinary people.

@@SpicyTexan64 I spent 10 days at a retreat in the Colorado Mountains studying Tibetan Buddhism. I spent a summer as a child studying at an Islamic summer school. That is my formal education in specific religious studies. I have not read any religious texts from Judaism or Christianity aside from aphorisms and quotes. The substantial influence of those two religions are in the daily exposure we experience in American culture. To answer your question directly, no, I have never enrolled and studied The Bible in length.

I consider myself a believer but not fanatical. My beliefs stem from my parents and have been crafted by my interests, needs, education, and society in general. The term has escaped me but I do ascribe to Islam as I have seen the truth and it is undeniable. Once you know it is like returning back to your infancy or when you were in deep trouble after a stumbling block occurred. That is why faith is important. Without it you are denying the others a chance as well as falling off the path that was intended for you alone. I wish I could remember the term I was looking for? I think it was assumed after I encountered ignorant "wanna bees" trying to act self important or leaders. At any rate it is too easy to avoid those who you think are failures and make claims. It is far more resourceful to understand them and stick up for yourself and the ones you depend on. It is too easy to become the thing you despise the most by being a coward and hiding from the world.
