I don't know why in every video this song is called "about fall of Constantinople" when it's clear that it's legend of Constantine XI (about his death and return). Song is full of symbolism that reference to his story . According to this legend he took off all of his insignia of power and set off to defend the City with his people. Emperor died and was turned into marble and is waiting for a day when Greek people will reclaim the City.

There's a Turk in the comment section that believes that Turkic people are greater than the Hellenic. Put aside the Greek contributions on literature, maths, explorations, religion, science, philosophy, astrology, geometry, politics etc......Turkic people are literally difficult to be compared and be greater with any other people. Constantinople is a city of a thousand tales. I am a Bulgarian and our people have been under rule by both Greeks and Ottomans, even after that our Tsar had a dream of conquering that city and making it a center for the bulgarian culture, he wanted to build a new Byzantium. This city Constantinople, Istanbul, Byzantion or Tsarigrad is an eternal memory of the culture and history of so many great nations and empires!

Does not English borrow much from the Romance languages? Don't many languages use the Latin alphabet? Do you not feel the same yearning contained within this anthem? The same love for marble busts and statues as beautiful as when they were carved by the skillful hands of the Romans? The same fascination for the lifetime of the Roman empire? I tell you, Rome still remains unconquered. The Roman Empire might have fallen, but so did the Roman Republic, and the Kingship even prior. We are still as Roman as Constantine XI. Roma non est mortua, Roma est invicta.

St Sophia was in Christian Constantinople for 1100 years until 1453 AD. The Muslim interlopers have held the city for 570 years. The great church will be Christian again before very long. Islam can no longer prevent global scrutiny and criticism and it already collapsing among younger, educated Muslims in places like Turkey and Iran. The false religion is doomed and Christian values may well undergo a revival in the Middle East.. Indeed from 1918 to 1922 English, French and Italian forces occupied the city - the first time it had been under Christian rule since 1453. They should never have 'returned' it to Ataturk's Turkish republic. The UK and France easily had the power to retain the 3 percent of Turkey that lies in Europe and which includes Constantinople. It is a great shame that they did not do so.

I am a Turk who born in İstanbul. I lived for 20 years in İstanbul but I ran out to once another Roman capital Nicomedia. So I am living İzmit(nicomedia) now. Even the thought of going to İstanbul depresses me. Once upon a time, we Turks contributed a lot to Istanbul, but now we have ruined it in the last 50 years.
