Just when you thought food couldn’t get any tastier Akis comes along with this delicious pork kebab recipe. Tender pieces of meat tossed in herbs and grilled on skewers until beautifully golden. Serve in warm pita bread and top with juicy tomatoes, onions and a good dollop of spicy tzatziki sauce. Full of flavour, wonderfully filling and the perfect food to serve at parties.

I was in Athens in June and I ate souvlaki almost everyday. Greece is such a beautiful country. Great weather, awesome food and open-hearted people. Been there 7 times and I keep going back. Thanks for the recipe, brings back memories. I hope to see more of Akis on this channel.

I loved going to Greece. My wife always asks me every year when we plan our yearly travels to europe why i always want to go to Greece. Greece has best people in the world, best food and is so rich in ancient Culture. Why wouldnt i want to go back? I love Greece!!!

I was on Crete in summer and I had pork souvlaki on lunch every day. It was that delicious! I had never tried meat so juicy and full of flavours (herbs from local mountains). People were so friendly and nature so beautiful. I hope that I will visit that place again. I love Krete!

here in Panama we have a lot of people from greece, italy, lebanon, chinese, that have lived here for many years and their food is part of our coulture. Greek food is a favorite beause it's so fresh, healthy and so filling, yet you don't feel guilty! thanks for your recipes Akis.

I never heard of souvlaki or mussika or any Greek dish until my wife and I took our first trip to Lefkada and Kefalonia, and Delphi Greece. After visiting the Ionian islands and meeting the great Greek people i am wanting to move there and live there full time when i retire. I love Greece! Much love from USA

Μόλις άνοιξα το βίντεο νόμισα πως ήμουν στο ελληνικό κανάλι και ξαφνικά ακούω τον Άκη αγγλιστί να διαφημίζει το παραδοσιακό μας και ξακουστό σουβλάκι! Souvlakis taste so good! Great recipe. And listen up people! If you can afford it, go and visit Greece. It is a stunningly beautiful country, full of history, people are lovely and very welcoming, the landscapes are jaw-droppingly diverse and absolutely gorgeous and the food tastes so good you won't believe it. Plus, they need support right now with the crisis they've been through so if you feel like it, you could see it as an "activist trip" too. And that's a German speaking :)

that's why I have been to Athens, Santorini, 3 times and also Crete (2016) and Rhodes this past July :) I can have gyros & the spinach+feta pastry everyday :)

These are my favourite food. We used to holiday as children in Crete as my mum loved it, stumbled across this little place with a man who was tiny in statue and had these delicious things. Every time we holidayed again in Crete even if we were in a different location we would get on a bus and go back to this man's place. He had pictures of us up on the wall from over the years with our parents, until we were older. Tried them in other places, but his always seemed to taste the best. They are really filling, but I think we used to eat 3 or 4.

I've spent like 4 hours in my kitchen making my gratin dauphinois, your greek pita, souvlaki and tzatziki. And I have to say it was worth it and your recipes are amazingly tasty! :DDD I actually have a question. Is it normal to spend 4 hours cooking? Efharistó kai sas agapó Akis!

Kostas AEKARA The meat takes 30 minutes, but if you want to do the pita bread and the tzaziki sauce to it takes much longer.

Try baking the meat and the pita bread at the same time and untill then, prepare tzatziki sauce.The whole task won't exceed 2 h

+DeezoCew yes. basically Darius (who is xerxes' s father) didnt fight himself. he just gathered a huge Persian military force and sent it at the Marathon to fight the Greeks. the greek army leader was Miltiades and the two Persians leaders were Datis and Artafernis (found their names in a greek history book).Those two were Darius' s underlings

It appears as if he warms the pita bread on the uncooked side of the pork. You might want to wait until you turn the pork once and then place the pita on the already cooked side of pork. It's doubtful there'd be anything dangerous on the meat after a soak invinegar, but it never hurts to play it safe. Great looking recipe.
