not only is this a perfect VEGAN version of tzatziki but this is also the absolutely correct way to prepare it: straining the cucumber completely, turning the garlic into paste, adding some vinegar for extra tanginess... who wants watery tzatziki anyway? it MUST be super thick and creamy! I personally add either some fresh spearmint or fresh dill to boost the flavor -- A Greek vegan ;)

Wow what a great vegan version of tzatziki! This recipe really does tzatziki justice :) It's pretty much exactly how we do it here in Greece, well minus the vegan xD Usually when I see foreign recipes of tzatziki, they may not get rid of all the water in cucumber/yogurt and it ends up being too thin... Which is still fine, but just not what most ppl here are used to. I'm not vegan but I love many vegan recipes and I'll have to say this one is great. Oh and just in case anyone is a serious garlic lover, dont be afraid to use 2 or even 3 times as much garlic as shown! Many home recipes in Greece actually use that much, but I have to warn you, it ends up being insanely strong. I myself prefer the less garlicky restaurant version, just like in this vid. Not to mention that with the strong tzatziki, if you eat so much as a bite or two, ppl wont stand being around you because of the smell xD

+nelumvia Thank you very much for the precious tips and for sharing your opinion with us :) I'm glad that you are enjoying our videos. The person who taught me how to make Tzatziki is actually greek, which might be the reason why you find similarities with the traditional method.

In the past, I have used the Tofutti brand (non-hydrogenated) sour cream to make tzatziki at home which has helped to cut out the step of draining the non-dairy yogurt. Tofutti sour cream is a soy-based product so it may not work for everyone but I have found it to be helpful when creating my own tzatziki at home.

I cannot wait to make this. How long would you say this will keep in the fridge? in the unlikely event that I don't consume it all in one day.
@thevegancorner
@thevegancorner 9 жыл бұрын
Amber Fowler The storage times are in the description below the video :) However, it keeps for 3 days in the fridge, but I honestly doubt it will last that long if you have any kind of appetite for Tzatziki ;)

Loved this. The dip looks delicious. Can you please share a recipe for making soy yogurt at home? Thank you :)
@gluvlyf
@gluvlyf 9 жыл бұрын
The reason why I'm requesting this recipe is that soy yogurt isn't available in my country. We only get non-dairy milks (almond and soy).
@thevegancorner
@thevegancorner 9 жыл бұрын
FruitTooth Maybe in the future we will share that recipe, but it requires equipment that many people don't have, which is why we haven't shared it already. I'll see if I can find a way to make the process simple, as I'm currently studying how to open a tofu plant, which means that soon I'll be a soy expert :) Thanks for watching

sweet! do u guys usually find soy yogurt available at supermarkets rather than specific vegan/organic stores? it's probably a silly question considering we probably live in different continents haha..anyway don't suppose you ever plan on doing a homemade pasta (like from scratch) recipe in the future? im italian and am too scared to experiment myself what i shame i know xx

looney vee We do find it quite easily in the UK, but we also make it sometimes. I'm sure we will share a recipe on how to make pasta from scratch in the future, as ewe are Italians too. Not the easiest thing to do for most people, but surely one that must be on this channels :) Thanks or watching

is there a difference between the vegan cream cheese recipe and the vegan greek yoghurt recipe?
@thevegancorner

Ho trovato la ricetta cercando un modo per fare lo yoghurt greco evitando i latticini! Per caso sapete come ricavare i valori nutrizionali? Sarebbe fantastico se riuscisse ad avere un simile apporto proteico allo yog greco normale :D
@thevegancorner
@thevegancorner 8 жыл бұрын
Ciao! In realtà tutte le nostre ricette hanno i valori nutrizionali, basta che segui il link nella descrizione e una volta raggiunta la pagina del nostro sito sarai in grado di vedere i valori nutrizionali.
@Artemisio987

@thevegancorner
@thevegancorner 8 жыл бұрын

Brianna Thompson If coconut yogurt has a thick consistency, it will work just perfectly. However, I'm not sure how the coconut note will go with the rest of the ingredients.
