Come and tour the Green Acres house of Oliver Wendell Douglas and his wife, Lisa Douglas, played by Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor. You'll get to see the living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen - with ceilings all 4 walls, just like a real home. This Hooterville country farmhouse is like few others you'll ever see.

Eva’s character was more straight man the first season. After that, they let her become one of the crazy characters. I think that made the show so much more fun.

Great job! My favorite Green Acres episode was when Lisa was chosen as Hooterville Rutabaga Queen. They put her up in a balloon, where she tossed out rutabagas, proclaiming, "Rutabagas! Hooterville rutabagas!"

@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane❤❤❤😮😮😮❤❤❤😊😊😊 Tysm for all your hard work ✨😄 👍🌟❣️🌹❤️🕯️✨🕊️🤍💖💛😄🐱 PS: I am forever grateful to all cast members of Walt Disney's 1970 Animated Aristocats: aka Phil Harris, Eva Gabor, Green Acres actor who played the bloodhound chasing Edgar the Butler who kidnapped Duchess (aka Eva Gabor) and all the kittens, etc. I love 🐈 😺 cats because of that 🍿🎥 movie and have rescued them, most of my life. My cat Duchess was named after Eva Gabor 's Lovely 😍🌹 Duchess mother kitty.😻 So many Disney voice actors overlapped, appearing on popular '60's & ' 70's sitcoms, like Eleanor Audley: 💤 😴 Sleeping Beauty's Maleficent & Cinderella's stepmom who also played Eddie Albert's tv Green Acres mother.💚🍏I am s🎉oooooo delighted to have been alive during the Golden Age of 📺 television.🎉

In the bathroom, originally the wooden tank that later became part of the shower was originally the tank for the toilet. The bowl was missing. The fact that it later became part of the shower was probably extremely funny to people that grew up with a high tank toilet. The toilet you put in the forth wall would have likely had a wooden tank as well. These are still fairly common in some old homes, usually relegated to the basement and sadly painted and/or nonfunctional. The tank is lined with copper.

I always associate mid-60's luxury furniture with Eva Gabor. I dunno why. I guess she just had that quintessential mid-60's look in every way. Wonderful job replicating the furniture and textures - even the tear on the wallpaper! This had to be a lot of work, even if it was a labor of love. Loved the tips on why things were set up the way they were. It's so easy for we viewers to suspend reality and take it all for granted! I enjoyed this, Marina!

What a wonderful video! I always love the background provided & your eye for detail, but this one really stands out. Your assessment of the positive aspects of this sitcom were thoughtful, & I was unexpectedly moved by your presentation of the house in before & after states, had any of the renovations ever been completed. For some reason, that made me feel a bit emotional, perhaps because it never happened, or maybe because - like you - I realized I prefer their home in a constant state of disrepair. I watch all your videos, even when they examine movies or programs I don't know, because your love for the content is so genuine. Thanks for putting so much work into your videos. My grandparents, parents and then my brother and I all loved this show. It was our 'cult' favorite show out of all the other 60s shows. Then, when we were teens, we all moved from Massachusetts all the way over to rural Ireland. For a while we lived in our Irish grandparents' farmhouse. It was like going back to the 1930s! It didn't hit me that I had lived the real life Green Acres experience until years later. Thanks Marina for this! I'll be watching this one over and over. The hidden 4th walls are especially fascinating. Love the extras too like the renovated versions at the end. Amazing work!

I think the one thing which made "Green Acres" really stand out as a sitcom was the amount of visual humor which took place in each episode. So much of it is reminiscent of the work of Ernie Kovacs, including the "crazy credits" in his shows. I didn’t watch Green Acres as a kid in the 70’s. It just didn’t strike a chord with my kid self. Great video though. Learned a lot about the show. Loved your bit about the absurdity of life that surrounds all of us sometimes. Especially right now in May 2024. Very appropriate! 😂

That was wonderful! I’ve been a fan since the show debut in 1965. It always had the look of being filmed on a sound stage especially the outdoors scenes with the fake looking scenery of hills and fields. Great job putting this video together; lots of hard work!

I am so glad I found your channel for several reasons. !) I grew up on Nick at Night so older sitcoms and seeing them and learning more about the actors appeal to nostalgia and history buffs. 2) I am an avid Sims player so recreating these sets in a home-building game will be a great summer relaxation. Hi, Marina ! What a wonderful update on this house and I agree about the living room, it has more vibrancy because of the colorful wallpaper vs just painted walls. I also like how you narrating some of the shows highlights and actions really added to the video. Can't wait to see what you will do with, Jessica Fletcher's house. I love this , this was one of my favorite shows growing up. And I think Lisa would have to have another closet as she had and endless collection of hats, I always wondered where she stored them all lol I do think the 4th wall in the living room may have been shown a time or 2 at least partially. I remember Lisa driving a nail and the entire wall fell lol. And when I Was little I also noticed looking into the bedroom didn't match up lol. However I noticed in the 1990 movie Return to Green Acres, they made it match up better I thought it was funny that even when the bedroom was under construction and it was just open to the outdoors, the exterior of the house still looked the same, in reality you would have been able to see the interior of the bedroom from the outside

I love this show so much. I initially loved it for the writing, the performances, and the amazing editing, which was used to enhance the humor. Just like you have to be a good actor to do comedy well, you have to be smart to write silly well. Later, I began to see the relationship between Oliver and Lisa was crucial to the show not being completely cynical. They were so cute together, and the fact they admired each other so much off screen showed up on screen. Interestingly to me, while most 4th walls seem to make TV rooms small and cramped, this living room 4th wall made that room seem more open and pleasant, especially due to the windows. I never thought about them there!

I'd read where Green Acres had continuity issues. It was often the third in line for the 'rural trio' as Petticoat Junction, Beverley Hillbillies and GA were known back then. That included its budget. Most went to Oliver's salary. And, later, Lisa's as she got a major raise before season #4 (at the insistence of Albert).

This is terrific! I purchased a book a few years ago that had floor plans for TV homes but nothing like what you have created. I always wondered how the sets were laid out on a soundstage in order to fit the space and be practical for filming. On a few shows you could see they repurpose the same set to be a school, a hospital room, etc. I especially like how they would place a large canvas with a street scene painted on it just outside a door or window with a couple of plants tossed in for realism. It looks really fake but it’s part of the charm of 60s shows. My vote is for the Patty Duke Show house. Thanks.
